Will Any Of Us Still Be Alive In The Year 2100

I was lying awake last night and this question sort of jumped into my head, convenient I would say as we are about to see a new year in and it got me wondering Will any of us be alive still in the year 2100? I guess unless there are any real youngsters on Mylot which I sincerely doubt, I think the youngest is 16? That would make them I guess 107 which is near impossible at the moment. However with all the medicines being invented and new cures being found, it could be possible for people to live well into the hundreds, but probably not this millennium And besides there are other things to contemplate too, we could be wiped out in 2012 by the prophecized asteroid, I think Nostradamus predicted that the Earth would be destroyed by 2012, so maybe 2100 will never come about What are your thoughts on 2100, would you like to be alive to see it, do you think you will be alive to see it? I will be 129 years old, LOL! Imagine a Wolfie who is 129 years old! And one last thing, will we be saying the year 2100 as Two thousand one hundred or Twenty one hundred? Not to be too morbid on New Years Eve but I think it's quite an interesting subject don't you?

First... some clarification. Nostradamus has never predicted the end of the world at any stage. And for good reason. We still have not managed to decifer the Nostradamus code. All we have been able to do... was to connect the predictions he made with what has already happened. I have heard many stories on mylot in the past 2 years about the end of the world in 2012. Was not sure where it came from... until now. In the last episode of the X-Files... it is said that an ancient civilisation from South America "The Mayas" had a calendar which did stop at 2012. First question... Why would a civilisation have a calendar going 1000 years ahead of them? Do we have a calendar going into the future? NO! Our calendar is 15 months ahead at the most. Anyway... in the X-Files... it is said that the Mayas did stop their calendar at 2012 because they knew that the earth would be invaded by Aliens in 2012 and humanity wiped out. Now... if you want to believe... and how can you not believe Mulder and Scully after 9 seasons of X-Files... Maybe we are going to get invaded. For my part... I think George Bush is an alien. Didn't you see that thing protruding in the back of his neck?

Don't confuse a man made calendar predicting the future... And a computer made calendar created in a second through a mathematical operation.

Happy New Year Plooker. People talk about a civilisation who predicted the future by stopping its calendar in 2012. Just because your calendar on your computer stop at 3999 does not mean that the end of the world will be in 3999. Or does your computer knows something that we don't? Same with your 25 years mortgage rate. The fact that they won't give you a fix rate is because they cannot predict the future. Nor do they know if you will work that long or live that long. That's why we have insurances. So now that we have establish that I know what I am talking about... Please stay on topic and answer the question. Will Any Of Us Still Be Alive In The Year 2100?

Hi wolfie, As I am now 69 years old, the possibility that I will be here in this body is I think, very slim. I would not rule out the thought that some of those on myLot, my be here as we all know the average lifespan is increasing all the time and there are already thousands on earth who have passed the 100 mark. I believe that change will continue to come very fast, unless we completely destroy civilization as we know it which is a very real possibility. Not to end on such a morbid note, I wish you a Happy, Healthy and Prosperous 2009. Blessings.

I would be around 140 years old with walking stick and a bulky eyeglasses. Thank God I would not be here to be worried about another millenium and prophecy.

That could always be 140 years young LOL! If you had a walking stick you could still at least walk which isn't bad for a 140 year old!

Sure, it is very possible because I have relatives approaching 90 now and they are extending life more and more. Its highly likely that many of us will still be here typing away on mylot. There are unlimited possibilities now with all the new discoveries. If you look at what will be discovered just in the next 5 to ten years and many of these discoveries will help all of us.Older ages will be more and more common and the next generation will probably see many more years due to all the preventative care and new knowledge. Its amazing what they are discovering and how much it will affect all of us. People are also using many more natural and health aware stradegies in their lives. http://nextbigfuture.com/2008/09/curing-disease-versus-curing-disease.html If we cure all diseases (all diseases, that is, except aging itself) 20% will make it to 95. So if you're part of that lucky 1 in 5, curing all disease would give you only 10 years more than you would have had in 1960. The graph assumes that we don't ever get any better at avoiding accidents or violent incident - but at least 80% of us would make it to age 250. 20% would live 1000 years or more.

Food for thought my dear friend. But I think it will still be too late for us but I do have an interest of how things will change in 2100, what type of technology whether humans have changed in their respect for others and for the planet itself. And of course there is a question of whether we could in actual fact come back not in our present bodies but in a new reincarnation, fascinating subject isn't it that I could happily chat about for ages!

Thinking about how will we be when we are older and if we did live that long, what would we like and what would be doing by then? Would we take on some new , great challenge in life and what would we do with that time? We could go to the gym and listen to music and help each other stay in shape lol after all when your over a 100, you have to have a nice bod lol

I would only be a young one of 124 compared to you lol....I dont think I would like to live that long. I count myself lucky to have seen a new century in...Although you never know where you would find a mad scientist working his experiments for ever lasting life!!!!:-)

I believe that I can do it. In the year 2100, I will be 116, which is not that impossible! Some people in Yunna, China lived to 146. Haha My grandpa can ride a bike like a young adult though he is actuall 80 years old. I guess he will live to an age lager than 100. Me, on the other hand, I will surpass him! So, the answer is I will!

You never know. Human potential is to live at least 150 years if without stress and accidents. Medicine is doing much better, but not good enough. Human life is going to get shorter before it gets longer. New generation is obese and it is predicted to live much shorter. If we have major discovery in medicine for cancer, maybe we can be still around... See you in 2100 or sooner... HUGS

Hey there Wolfie, I hope to be here with no problems in 2012, now as for 2100 forget that, I will be dust by then. When that time does come around I believe people will be saying Twenty One Hundred like when they say Nineteen Hundred and Three for example. Gee, just think people in 2100 will be calling us who were born in the 1950's, 60's and 70's really ancient. They will probably laugh that in our generation we had VCR tapes and DVD's and they probably will have a button on their watch where they can catch the latest movies to watch.

No I don't think I will be alive then I don't think I will enjoy my life at that old of age I won't kill myself or anything but I really hope I don't have to live above the age 100 the world must have changed so much then I will be missing things I loved and people dear to me wouldn't be around anymore or they will be just as old as I am and no longer able to enjoy life

We may be gone but our descendents will be alive and enjoying life.Hopefully benefiting from the latest techologies and medicines and living even longer.Thats what I like to think anyway.I don't hold with all this end of the world stuff, and martians landing. We are having the olympics in 2012 so that is taken care off. No the world will go on might get a bit smaller with the sea levels rising and global warming but it will still be here.

I fear that everything will be done by robots, technology advances so quickly that even the most basic human task will be robot operated, that is kind of scary and I don't want to be around to see that. Hail to the olympics!

I know for sure I won't be. As for the 2012, my b/f is of Maya on his mothers side and Aztec on his fahters side, decendant. We have a Mayan calendar and I asked him to point out to where the ending is and asked if he knew what it was the ending of...he said end of the common era. The man most common will no longer be the leader, other are to take over, something like that. I would have to ask him agin to describe what he meant.

I asked him and he said my interpretation is right but it means also there will be a new beginning from what we are accustomed to.

I doubt I'll still be alive in the year 2100 seeing as I'm only a few years younger than you Wolfie. My own kids might make it to see this, but that would make my oldest 103 years old! I can't even imagine such a thing! Though I know it isn't impossible. But if Earth will but destroyed in 2012 then I guess none of it matters, does it?

Hello wofie. I hope to live as long as the year 2100 if possible. Hehehehe. If I could live that long, then I would be another miracle to the world. Have you thought about your living that long, dear wolfie? I wish you would. Stay healthy and happy, friend.

I have thought of this myself. I have children born in 1995, 1999, and 2001. I thought there is a chance that they will be able to see in 2100. For myself I would totally love it but then I would be 124 years old. I heard the oldest person was about 115 so considering the damage I put my carcass through it is very unlikely it will make it to that point.

If you read lots of books written by psichycs, you'll see that our earth will not have humans on it beyond 2100. It has to do with our aggesive ways of taking care of each other and the aerth resources as well. Even though the medicine will conquer cancer, MS, fibromyialgia and everything else will be cured, as long as we don't care about the others, we will desapear too. Just think, how many people are starving, have no roof above their haed, how many die in wars, and we, the " advanced" countries, instead of helping, we use our resources to build missiles, to get out in the space. We are not supposed to get out from this earth till we still have problems at home...
