After a heavy meal...

After a heavy meal, do you tend to feel sleepy? I think that most of us do. Of course, we know very well, that we should NOT sleep immediately after eating. Except for those who are really sick I guess. Well, do you let yourself doze off? Or do you try to do something that would keep your mind off from sleeping? What are your strategies? Oftentimes, I would stand up and move away from the couch or bed because they are very inviting. LOL! If I am at home, I would either go to the veranda or go to where my dogs are. If I am at work, I would move away from the office's couch or even from the table where I might end up dozing off. I would most likely chat with anyone around to keep me from sleeping.

Who says dozing is not good for healt after a heavy meal??? on the contratary, it has been found that a brief nap of 15-30 minutes is great for your brain. Many companies in korea have made it mandatory to sleep after a meal. Office-sleep-chair manufacturers are doing great business worldwide. ALAS, my employer is not as broadminded or well read like me.So sleeping after lunch is still a no-no for me. I find this the best time for gossip in the office i am also helping others to ward off sleep by doing this. on weekends i always doze off after a heavy meal. Got to take take of my brains.....

As for me,I would not go for a heavy meal lest I feel lethargic. It is awful finding people devouring whatever food stuff that is offered to them. Such gluttony would definitely pose serious threats to health. It is best if all of us prefer moderate diet in order to live in happiness devoid of illnesses.

Indeed that is very true and that often happens to me. I only work at home online and i have sleeping problem as well but i noticed every after meal that's when i feel sleepy and sometimes i can't really resist it and ended up falling asleep. I know its not healthy for me or for anybody to be in that habit but i am really trying my best to eliminate it. Sometimes i go directly to computer to work so that i will not tempted to sleep but due to lack of sleep sometimes i tend to grab the opportunity when i feel sleepy and because of these i gain weight. This year i'm planning to change that habit so that i will gain back my normal weight and so that i will not be prone to illness. Happy New YEar and happy mylotting!

Yes, I most certainly do feel tired and sleepy after a large meal. I will go walking or to a store when I have eaten a large or heavy meal. I must walk it off it helps me to feel better. I usually go to a store and shop around after eating out.

I always feel sleepy after eating. It does not matter really how much I eat. I do feel sleepier if I eat a whole lot though. I also work nights and that does not help either.

After a heavy meal we feel cold and sleepy because of the mechanism going on inside our body on the food that we have taken. We are advised not to sleep because it will develop unnecessary fats in out body but when i was a kid i used to doze off even in the dinning table and it was a bad habit i wonder whether others do that or not. After a heavy meal i' ll go to the terrace and watch the street or try to be busy on phone for some time in that way i prevent from dozing off. And i guess after sometimes we become normal (means we don't feel sleepy).

Sure I feel sleepy after a heavy meal. I will fight that out by keeping myself busy surfing the net and it sort of bring sparkle to my eyes.

Yes, eating a heavy meal will tend to make one sleepy. But I am usually at work or in front of the pc at home, so these keep me from drifting off. I also try not to eat too much to get to the point of making me sleepy.

Happy New Year! I usually stand up and just walk to get of the food inside. I dont snooze or go to bed after eating. even in the office I dont sleep because I want my sleep to be long and 1 hour is not enough. It is also not my habit to take a quick snap, if no work I just lay on bed and do some readings and hear music.

Hello! First thing I never eat a heavy meal either in lunch or in the dinner. So question of feeling sleepy does not arise with me.Besides it is not good to go to bed within 30 minutes from the principal meals as it would promote reflux of foods with acid in to the food pipe and may cause heartburn. So it best advised to eat small meals at intervals rather than large meals.thanx.

usually, i will go to sleep for a while after lunch, people says it is good for health, but not immediately. Perhaps we can do some walk and then go to sleep for about 30 minutes! that'll make you energetic the whole afternoon and night.

I always take a nap after lunch, though not immediately. I'll clean the kitchen, walk down a bit, read something and then I lie down for a nap. I am into the habit of going to bed late, being a night bird, wake up early. So by taking nap in the afternoon I compensate my sleeping hours also. This keeps my mind fresh also and energises me to work till midnight.

Actually, I like walking after a heavy meal. Window shopping or grocery shopping is my favorite activity after a big meal. if I am not in the mall, then I just walk around the house or the office and talk to people. or I find other things to do like looking out the window, fixing the clothes, etc. I stand for a bout 15 minutes to half an hour. When there's a good show on the TV, I can stand for an hour before sitting down. I try to do this so my stomach won't be so big and I just got used to doing it.

I feel the same way too when i ate a heavy meal, it really feels good to rest and eventually sleep but since this is not a good thing to do. I would usually thing of something to do and try to move around to digest the food fast with the movements that i make before going to bed.

Oh no, i think that's a bad idea sleeping after a heavy meal. If you do feel sleepy, just keep on standing and do somethings that could entertain you so you wont get bored, and also in that way it will help you digest your meal by standing.
