Public transport or your own vehicle.

I used to travel in the Public transports during my initial days, when I come to the city, later in the recent days, I am using my bike most of the time. Ours is not a big city but using a public transport vehicle does eat up some time of yours.
I prefer biking my way through the city traffic.

I would like to have my own vehicle. We can avoid the crowd. We can also avoid the diseases transmitted in public vehicles. We can also avoid the fights in public vehicles. We can also leave at our own time the house. We can also reach the destination fast.

I don't have a car so I rely on public transportation or my 2 feet.

We don't drive or have a car, never have. I have 2 children the youngest being 12 and we always use public transport. I don't have to worry about parking or tax or insurance I simply buy a ticket and let the driver do all the work. I love public transport :0)x

I totally loathe public transportation! I hate standing on the street in the rain or the cold or when it is too hot. I also hate the time that it takes and knowing I could be across town and back in the time it takes to travel by bus. I did find the subways convenient in New York when I was there and they are cheaper than taking a taxi. After Katrina the bus service was reduced here so I feel very fortunate to have acquired a car within one year afer the storm.

I don't know how to drive and I have never owned my own car in my life.
I take the bus wherever I have to go or a taxi if I absolutely cannot get their by bus or subway. But I rarely go out.

WE live just out of a small town where there is no public transport at all but then the bonus is that it does not take very long to get anywhere anyway. I am a truck driver and so my work depot is some distance from my home which means I have to drive my car to and from the depot to get the truck. ?There is no public transport from my home plus I work different hours as it depends on when the load is ready as to what time I start. Finishing times are even more erratic as it does depend on what loads I have and how long I am away.
When we have a load of fruit and/or vegetables for the market or customers, then we take them in the utitity to the depot near us for delivery to the customer. If we have shopping to do or bills to pay and that is local, then we will either walk there or ride our bikes. That way we get exercise, it costs us nothing in fuel and we are heaping the environment at the same time.
For those people who live in cities or towns I think that in most instances public transport would be a better option, providing it fits in with the start and finishing times of work that is.

The only public transport we have anywhere near us is a taxi service. They charge way too much and since there are so few of them to maybe have one wen you need it you must know about a week in advance and let them know. You also must call and remind them a few times. They will even put more than one rider together to get them done on the same day. They don't however charge you a cute rate as you must share your ride. You will pay full price for the ride and the inconvience of having to go out of your way for the other person.
It's much better to have your own vehicle which we do. Since we live way out in a rural area we must have more than one in the event that one breaks down for any reason.

In our country, taking the public transportation involves risks, so if we can afford to have our own transportation, we use it instead of commuting. We usually just carpool with friends to save on gasoline. It is still a lot safer than riding public transportations.

i would prefer to go on a public transport because it is much cheaper and more relaxing for me compare bringing my own transport. but if it would be a long trip is is always a wise choice to bring your car because it is cheaper and more convenient going home.

In our city, the subway is a very convenient transportation means. It is fast, punctual, and easy for time planning. When needed, we can change for buses. According to the special program, the second journey can be discounted if taken within one hour. We see more and more lanes designated for buses. So I am happy with the public transport in our city.

If I'm going somewhere like downtown and you have to pay for parking after you drive around looking for a place to park I prefer to use public transportation. If I have a lot of things to get from the store however I would use my own vehicle, ever try getting on a bus with two children, a whole bunch of heavy shopping bags, and a double stroller.

i dont know how to drive.... and i dont have my own vehicle. i wish i have but i dont. i have four children and using the public vehicle is more expensive for us everytime we go out. but we have no other choice. but if i am going to work travelling by public transport is okay. it takes time before youget to your destination so we should go out early. train is fast but sometimes full.

Hello, coolmailraj.
The city I live in is really big. It is one of the biggest cities in my country. I live in Brazil, which is not a small country, so you can guess that the city is not small either. Here, there is how to use bicycles. I'd rather go using them, but sometimes the place you want to go is not that close. And here the roads aren't all plane, which means bicycling may get hard depending on where you go. There are a lot of ups and downs to pass through. There are points in which bicycles are the most used vehicles, like beach towns. But here, the amount of cars makes it difficult for me to travel on my own vehicle. Since I am not eighteen, I cannot drive. So, I will have to stick with the public transport. However, if I am going somewhere near, I can use bicycles. It is not impossible to use them, and they surely are better than taking bus. A shame my schools have no garage for bicycles, no place to leave them.
Respectfully,
Munhozmib.

Over here in France, in the countryside where i live, there isn't any Public Transport. The buses are just for taking the children to school, so if you want to get about, then you have to be able to drive, have a motorbike/scooter or a push bike.
In the larger towns/cities there are public transport, but I have never liked Public transport myself, I prefer to be in control instead of waiting for buses, trains etc to arrive, and of course they don't take you to your doorstep.

Hi coolmailraj,
I don't work but my husband does and he rides his bike to work everyday and have showers there before he starts his work, it is a good idea as it will keep you fit as well and afford all that traffic.

We do not live in the city but in a little village at the bottom of a valley so bike riding is really difficult, but we do take our bikes on holiday and ride them a lot,in the summer we hope to drive to a flatter area so it is possible the kids don't mind the hills but us older ones find it hard as we have a main road as well.I am glad you ride your bike it is much better for you, plus you don't have to pay fares as well as that can eat into your money.
