For two years now my husband has used ProFlowers (online) to send me V-Day flowers. I am here to say that I am very please and impressed with them. The flowers are gorgeous. Last year they lasted over 7 days. And the FedEx man(who actually wished me happy valentines day) was much more friendly just then, than the over worked, moody delivery guys at the local florist. The hubs is getting another thumbs up and extra snuggle for this one.
Are you, like so many of my friends, one who tells your man not to send you flowers because they are a waste of money? Do you even like flowers?
Me, I adore them. They bring life and happiness into my home. I enjoy them a lot! I love my home and all the sunshine that comes in through all the windows and I like a beautiful arrangement of flowers in my house making everything look happy. There I've said it. Too much money, maybe.... but it makes us happy.
How about you? Is V-Day just a silly commercial, unnessary holiday to you?? Or what?

Very nice. My husband works for a florist. He is retired so he delivers flowers part time. He gets them at cost, so he can bring home really gorgeous ones!!
I always thank him for the beautiful flowers. I never thought that they are a waste of money because they bring beauty. We need more beauty surrounding us so it is a good thing!

My first hubs couldn't remember Christmas let alone any other "DAY". My second hubs considers every other "DAY" except Christmas a waste of money! So I suffer in silence and vow that my next hubs is going to be a gay guy! ROFL

Well I am not a big fan of V-Day. I like getting random present on non-holidays though LOL Flowers are okay, I would rather get a really pretty plant since I always feel badly when they die

That's awesome! I love flowers too, but I am just fine with a bouquet of mixed flowers instead of red roses. I think it is more the thought that counts over how much money you spend. Red Roses are marked up for Valentine's Day and they are just as pretty other times during the year. My hubby often picks ups roses and/or other flowers as a surprise throughout the year for me.

Ahh, sweet hubby you have there.
I agree about the Red Roses, I'd be just as happy with a mixed bouquet.

Oh, you must be very lucky to have a very sweet husband. I really love flowers but my husband doesn't give me flowers. His way of showing his affection and love to me is not through flowers but by giving me dress, shoes, bags and even makeup. Two days ago, she surprised me with a beautiful new bag.

Yes, my husband is very sweet, but I do understand what it is like receiving affection and love through material things.

Hi makingpots. How sweet of your husband and I am sure those flowers were lovely. I do love flowers but I am one of those women who thinks that it is just a waste of money. That is why my husband always pick up flowers in our garden and at our neighbors just to show me that I am a woman and I deserved the flowers. lol..I love him for that!
take care and have a great day!

I would love the flowers picked right out of my garden as well, faith210. I love the spring months when my glads are blooming and he sneaks out to bring them to me when I least expect it.

I think that Valentines Day is a silly commercialized holiday, but I might think differently if I had someone to spend the holiday with other than my kids.
Good for hubby getting you some nice flowers and to the Fed-Ex guy for being so nice.

I am not one that really likes flowers. I enjoy just being with my fiance more then getting flowers. I do like the holiday though, and would receive any gift, even flowers, they just ain't my type.

hi makingpots...that is wonderful. i don't have a sweetheart. but i was in the Hen House grocery store and the had the most beautiful flower bouquets you could imagine. everything was $50 tho but so lovely. i enjoyed looking at them. i managed days earlier to get in on a sale at H H where the bought up some leftover flowers and were selling them to move fast from $2-$6 and there were a lot of beautiful choices. i bought 2 $2.00 bouquets and put them in our bathroom. it's almost a week and the bright green flowers are lasting the longest. had to throw out the bright yellow tulips in a few days. i bought my mother a red valentine box of chocolates for valentines day. and i saw a man in line at the hen house with the biggest red valentine box of chocolates i ever did see. i said to him, "someone's gong to be very happy." he told me that he had 3 kids that were going to want some of the chocolate. i thot that man was very considerate to think of the whole family so that he could be sure that his wife got some.

Sounds like you had a fun trip to the store that day.
Also sounds like you understand the flowers-just-give-a-little-boost, aspect of what I'm saying.
Those $2-$6 bouquets are what I most often use. I love to bring them home and arrange them myself.
There ARE some very considerate men out there, greenglitterturtle. Nice of you to acknowledge him. And nice of you to take part in my discussion.

Valentine's Day is now very commercial but nearly every women wants to be thought of on this day. I just do not think that so much money should be spent in these bad economic times when people may lose jobs. I know that in a recession we should spend money but if you think that you are going to lose your job then it is better to just buy a card.
Flowers mean so much to me. My favourite roses are yellow roses. And one VD I did receive yellow roses from my husband. This meant a great deal to me as it was hard for him to obtain where I live.
I love to see flowers in a house as they make a house a home. It need not be elaborate - just a posy of lfowers placed somewhere makes such a difference.
Have a wonderful Valentine's Day with your husband. Blessings

Aww, very nice of your hubby to go to the trouble for yellow roses.
Thanks for your input on this discussion.
I agree with you... a posy placed around in the odd place here and there is my preference over large bouquets.

I understand that you are very lucky and your hubby is very nice and caring, that is why he send on flowers on V-Day. Flowers, undoubtedly bring charm and beauty to the atmosphere and make us feel elated. I also love flowers and do not if my partners send the same to me. I do not think, it should be called wastage of money, if flowers are exchanged beween partners. In fact, it shows how much they adore and love each other. Flowers work 'icing' on the already baked cake.......for partner..........LOL!

I have never really cared for this day. When I was married and things were good...my husband was one that often forgot these sorts of holidays. I really didn't care. He treated me so well often just randomly bought me flowers or a little token of his love....i KNEW he loved me. Things eventually got really bad for us and the marriage ended but still....it is just a day. I mean, if a boyfriend does go out of his way to buy me flowers or something, I certainly do appreciate it but if they don't that's ok too if that makes any sense. As for flowers...love them but I do think they are a lot of money for something that doesn't last. If I get roses, I dry them and save them. I actually prefer wild flowers....they are beautiful and they are free. I pick them for myself but if someone takes time to pick them for me, they have so much more meaning to me. Nothing against those that love all that stuff....its just how I am. I do get into this holiday for the kids. My boyfriend...I will probably write make him a card...write him a poem.

You know what, a homemade card and a poem written just for me would go much further to make me happy than the gorgeous flowers I'm looking at. It would be a different kind of happy.
I'm with you on the wild flowers too.

The guy I see now is a millionaire. He always at first gave me extravagant gifts and I'd always get after him. It took him a while but I think he finally got it. For xmas, he called me up to meet him. He handed me a card and I tensed expecting some huge amount of cash that I was going to feel bad about. He caught my look and said ..."don't worry. Just open it ...I think you'll like it." Inside was a 3 page letter telling me how he felt about me and how much I meant to him and how much he cared. I'll cherish it forever. It was the best gift and from the heart .

The last time my husband sent me flowers was for our anniversary. He used ftd because we had a coupon and I told him if he was going to do anything to use the coupon so he didn't spend so much money. But I have to agree with you - Proflowers are the best flowers! They are packaged so well and they last the longest. This year I asked him how much he would normally spend on flowers and asked for a necklace instead for the same amount of money. But the flowers make me happy every time he sends them and the card gets better with each delivery also. The only downer is that my co-worker says something so negative each time I get flowers. My husband says that she's jealous but it just gets upsetting that she just has to say something vicious every time.

Hi, deejean06.
You are right, Proflowers comes so nicely packaged. It is one of the things I like about them. It's like receiving flowers in the long boxes like in old Hollywood movies.
Funny, I used to have a nay-sayer coworker who had negative things to say when others got flowers. I once sent her flowers the office. I over heard her talking about a spring bouquet that she sent to her mother and how beautiful it was. My husband had a credit for a free delivery because of a mix up and I asked him if I could use it on her. She was speechless. Never knew I sent them.
