I remember with my first son I ate grilled cheese and tomato soup everyday for months, sometimes twice a day. I also would wanted cheesecake with blueberries. My husband would run to Denny's to get me a slice. I also remember not being able to eat eggs, I would gag. Another big gagger was everytime I brushed my teeth, it must have been the toothpaste. With my twins all I wanted was milk. I drank it constantly!!! I can't really remember if anything bothered me or if I craved anything when pregnant with my daughter.

With my girls it was banana splits. With my son I craved salad. I know there were foods I couldn't eat, just can't recall what they were. A lot of foods kind of stunk. A good indication was if my own cooking made me want to puke (and I'm a pretty good cook) I was probably pregnant.

I remember we ate out a lot when I was pregnant because I couldn't go near the kitchen sink. Just the smell of dishes in the sink or food in the kitchen was enough to turn me green.

Milkshakes. Chocolate milkshakes. With each of my children, I craved different things but I always wanted chocolate milkshakes. I could not stand the smell of fried potatoes and onions cooking but after they were done cooking, I could not eat enough of them. I liked pickles for a snack. I could not hardly stand any kind of beef, like steak or hamburger.
It is amazing how our bodies works. What it needs is communicated to us as a craving and under certain conditions, we will kill to get what the body wants. Don't get between me and the chocolate milkshakes. It could be dangerous.

I had to eat steak and other iron rich foods when I was pregnant with my first. Either that or liver and ewwww. Enough said.
Getting my iron levels up was difficult and the doctor kept threatening to put me in the hospital. I was still anemic when I had her. No telling how much she absorbed.

You are both so right how your body craves certain things it needs through food. I know "once a month" I have this crazy craving for a fat, juicy hamburger. I am not a big hamburger eater, so I know my body is letting me know I need the iron.

I didn't really have cravings with my first child, but the situation I was living in then wasn't a great one, and basically I was lucky to have any sort of food, and wasn't allowed the luxury of cravings.
With my twins I ate a lot of ice cream, and drank a lot of grape soda. I'd given up Mountain Dew for that pregnancy, and ended up drinking 3 cases of grape soda a week, at least it wasn't caffeinated! Then, hubby would buy 2 pints of Ben and Jerry's ice cream each day. I'd eat my whole pint, and he'd eat half of his. The next day while he ws at work I'd eat his other half, then wait for him to get home with more!
With my 4th child the thought, smell, or sight of meat would make me sick. I basically became a complete vegetarian. I mostly craved salad, especially caesar. I was extremely disappointed that Christmas when we went to his sister's for x mas dinner. Instead of a ham or turkey with all the fixings, she served lunch meat sandwiches and chips! I couldn't eat it, the thought of it made me gag. I was expecting mashed potatoes and stuffing and hopefully a salad or something. It was awful and I was starving!!
With my last child I think my eating habits were pretty natural, but I did crave healthy food in the beginning, like fruit salad and stuff like that.

I think it is so strange how our bodies crave different things for different pregnancies. I can't ever remember craving anything that was really healthy, I wish I had. Probably the healthiest thing was the milk craving with my twins but when your drinking practically a gallon a day, I don't think that was so healthy. Maybe that is why I gained a few extra pounds with that pregnancy.haha

With my son, I craved junk food out the butt. I wanted Arby's roast beef sandwiches, Krispy Creme Doughnuts, and Pizza Hut Pizza, meatlovers style. I remember going grocery shopping with my husband and buy Oreos. He left for work on night and I ate all but one cookie. He come back the next morning and thought he'd get oreo's and milk for breakfast.. only to get one cookie. He asked me, why i ate the whole bag, I responsed the baby wanted them... to this day my son will not eat an oreo cookie, so my theory of why i ate them was totally wrong.
With my Daughter, I craved Hot spicey foods. We ate Mexican, Taco Bell and Chilli's all the time. I carried a hot sauce bottle in my purse everywhere we went to eat. In the mornings, my husband would stop and get me a sausage, egg and cheese biscuit from McDonald's and I would pour a ton of hot sauce on that when I ate it. She though come out loving hot spicey foods.
With my son, I really didn't get sick of but one thing. Juicy Juice Cherry Juice, and still can't drink it. My daughter though, I had hypereremesis, and everything come back up, and then some.

Isn't it horrible when you know you are supposed to be eating the healthiest foods and all you want is the complete opposite! My kids still drink cherry juicy juice. When I was nursing my daughter she was having a reaction to something I was eating so I had to follow this special diet from my lactation consultant. One of the things I could drink other than water was cherry caprisun's. I drank so many of those things I don't know if I could drink one now.

Italian mixed sub, swiss miss chocolate pudding and a v-8 juice. That's how I knew I was pregnant the 4th time. When I got the craving, I went and picked up the meal and a pregnancy test!. I'm on baby number five and have not had that craving this time.
When I became pregnant with my second, there was this Hi-C drink that I was crazy about, but every time I drank it the baby let me know I should not!! The funny thing is I know that koolaid is something she'd love now.
This pregnancy I've been crazy for beef, but can't stand the smell of many things. Anything frying, Chinese food, eggs-ewwwww. It's funny. I actually haven't been able to tolerate the smell of Chinese food since my third pregnancy.

Ooohh, I love Italian subs, that sounds good. It is strange you had the same craving, talk about knowing your body. You were right on! The Chinese food thing I can understand because, even though I like it, it does have strange aroma sometimes.

I am pregnant now, and it's only 9 days away from my expected due date. So far, I have not found any food that I crave for during my pregnancy period. I still have the same eating habit as I had before I pregnant. Actually I am glad that I do not have any food craving issue, so that I do not have difficulty in finding food for myself.

With my first child, I couldn't eat anything except for brown sugar cinnamon poptarts. That is the only thing that didn't make me throw up! Once I passed that stage, I started craving snickers bars. When I made my husband go out at 11pm and get me a snickers bar, he smartened up and bought a bunch so they were always on hand.
Right before I gave birth to all of my children I craved McDonalds. It was so weird. I had to have a cheeseburger, fries, milkshake and the chocolate chip cookies they use to sell. Then that night I went into labor and had my baby. It hapened all 4 times, so when that McDonalds craving came, I knew it was time.

Well, at least all your craving weren't anything strange. What is strange is having the same craving right before labor. I really don't remember craving anything right before I went into labor, although I do remember being extremely hungry a few days ahead of time. It was like my body was storing up energy.

With my first two children I was so, so sick, sometimes just the smell of food would make me throw up. Anything with garlic or anything mint flavored would make me run to pray to the porcelain gods. I wanted to eat ice cream and mint oreos, they always sounded so good, but I'd take a bite and dash to the bathroom. With my third child, I could eat anything I wanted, but I didn't crave much. I was just so excited to be able to actually eat food and not hurl, that I enjoyed food. I did crave liver (fried chicken livers and beef liver too) and turnip greens.

This happen because in your tummy there is a large parasite living. This is your child. You have to eat more to feed your baby inside you. That is the reason why you always crave for food. But sometimes eating too much could result in a more large baby when it goes out from you. Soo better watch what's your taking for your body. Limit yourself to what your OB tells you to eat.

Pickles, Apple Sauce, Cheese, and Grapes. Not together but just randomly. Every once in a while I will want some pineapple. I just want different things randomly. A lot of things make me sick as well. I am on medicine for morning sickness as off right now. I can't wait for it to get better.

Well, I was never able to have kids Full term, but I did have 3 miscarriages and the memories still linger of some of the weird cravings I had. With the first one I could never eat before 10 a.m. and then all I wanted usually until at least noon was Orange juice and drank it like there was no tomorrow.
The second time I am not sure if I had any special cravings, but the 3rd one I craved Chocolate and sweets. Maybe this is what helped lead me to becoming Diabetic, but not sure. I still remember the morning sickness as well, and that is one major thing I never miss for sure.

I am sorry for your losses, that must have been very difficult. I was lucky and hardly ever had morning sickness. The only time I really remember having it was the first few month when I was pregnant with my twin boys...I guess it is very common with multiples to have morning sickness. Lucky you to be able to drink orange juice, I could never drink during any of my pregnancies, I would get horrible heartburn from it.

My first daughter when I first got pregnant it was Chocolate milk and could only be the one that was already mixed and they sold in the gallons. i would go through that stuff like crazy. Mayo made me sick just the look of it made me want to throw up. Now she loves that chocolate milk and hates Mayo lol. For my second daughter it was waffles only freshly made waffles would do with no syrup.

I guess I had less cravings while pregnant - I did never crave choclate as I do when not pregnant *lol*

I went through phases with my son. Milk was totally off-limits. It made me sick to my stomach and I couldn't drink it. I remember people would yell at me for not drinking milk, but my doctor told me not to worry about it because milk isn't the only place you get calcium from. The biggest thing I craved when I was pregnant with my son was frozen things. I would buy bags of frozen fruit from Sam's. I was an Icee junkie. My husband would pick me up from work and have an Icee waiting for me almost every day because he knew I would want one. I was so hot all the time towards the end of my pregnancy that I think that's why I was always wanting frozen things...plus it seemed to help with that queasy pregnant-sick feeling. All I wanted to eat for a lot of the pregnancy was a cheeseburger, french fries, and a chocolate frosty from Wendy's. I can't tell you how many times I sat through the drive-through at Wendy's waiting for my drink because I felt like I was going to throw up because I was so hungry. I would sit there thinking..."Just give me my drink...just give me my drink...." I chalk it up to a demanding baby. I swear I had no control over it. If I didn't eat right then when I was hungry, I would get sick. For the first half of the pregnancy, I had to eat almost every 2 hours or I would get sick...it was ridiculous.

It sounds like you had the true pregnancy craving with the pickles and ice cream. That is funny. I have noticed a trend with the eggs. I wonder why alot of pregnant women get so sick by looking, smelling, eating them, etc.....I know this is gross but maybe because it is an embryo...kind of. Good luck on your future pregnancy!
