Hello Everyone,
I have a horrible headache at the moment.....in fact I have had it all day. But it isnt a migraine. I have only ever had a migraine once and it was horrible! I hope never to have that again!
No...its just a regular headache I have right now. But it is stubborn and doesnt want to let go.
I have taken paracetamol....which is the most common pain killer in England for headaches....I have eaten, so it isnt because I am hungry and I havent been online long, so it isnt becuase I have been in front of the screen all day.
But what I want to ask is, what do you all find is a sure fire way to help soothe your headaches and stop them coming back?
Maybe I should be asking my partner for a nice massage eh? lol

Hello,
My daughter is being treated for migraines. Her neurologist says if you have ever had a migraine then all of your headaches are migraines for the rest of your life, even if they are not that severe. I agree with you however, a migraine is a whole other thing!!!! I get them too. I usually take an acetaminophen, and ibuprofen and a small glass of soda or coffee with caffeine. Not too much caffeine as it can cause headaches. My favorite pain reliever is naproxen sodium. I also once heard to squeeze your big toe on the opposite side of the pain of the headache or both if needed. It has worked a few times!!! Good luck to you.

I have only had a migraine once and I never want another one....but I cant think that all the headaches I have had since are migraines....they were just ordinary headaches.
The reflexology suggestion is a good one.....I have tried this in the past and it is actually very good....I have tried it for various things.
I dont think i know what Naproxen Sodium is.

Stress is the culprit. Lack of children and government is the best thing to element headaches. I think meditation, dark room and soft music helps the most. Putting yourself in a peaceful spot.

my mom is a nurse and my tolerance for pain is not that good.
whenever i have headaches or colds, she always insist that i will drink lots of water and have some rest.
she is never dependent with medicines. but whenever it is needed, like the pain never goes away, that's the time that he or she will take some.
i hope i am helpful in this discussion. cheers! =)

Your Mum is talking a lot of sense. It isnt that good to be dependant on anything, never mind medcines....we should have a little of everything in moderation.

when i get a headache i get a kind of sinus related headache and if you are going to go to sleep i would suggest trying some nyquil that has worked for me in past but i would only take it if you are going to go to bed cause it will make you sleepy

Oh Yes! I have had those sinus headaches before.
What usually happens is I wonder to myself...why have I got such a bad headache that wont go away!? And then after 4 or 5 days I can feel it just below my eyes and I think "AH ha!! THAT is why.....it is sinusitis!!"
So....maybe it is that that I am getting again now!?
It does give you such a terrible headace doesnt it?

hi, I think the best thing to do when you have headache is go to have some sleep, relax yourself. I do this way.
When I feel over oppressed, when there are too much work for me, when I met anything that I can not handle easily, I would feel headache, in this situation, I listen to some music, or sleep if allowed, sometimes i even ask for a leave, relax myself..
Why don't you have a try, get some better view!

You would think i would feel better after an all night sleep wouldnt you?
But I tell you, this headache is stubborn!
I sleep and then wake for a couple of hours, pop on here for 10 mins.....have a good drink because I dont want to get dehydrated and yet the headache is still there.
Whahhh hahhhh!

i think temp and humidity causes a lot sweating...which causes the most headaches here...probably not where you are living...so water does help a lot in headache...

Sometimes a fresh air can make a headache go away. The best is to relax and have a little walk outside. If it isn't possible, open a window and have some fresh air. Drink a glass of water and look away pointing eyes nowhere, don't look closely to things like a book, computer and TV.
If these things don't help, have a pill against a headache. Of course, a massage from a partner always helps!

Hi,
Atleast U know waht is causing Ur Headache(causative agent).Remove that(extra time ata stretch in front of screen), Ur headache will be gone.Hey,in 'Tension Headache"( as perur description, also said it is not Migrain)-it is ASPIRIN, not Paracetamol(better for fever) will work better.

I dont know what is causing the headache...thats the trouble.
And no.....no Asprin for me. I dont like asprin because it can cause stomach problems.
Paracetamol is the best over the counter pain killer that can be bought and it also the best for fever.
Paracetamol is the only pain killer that should be given to children too.

Sorry you are not feeling well. Things that seem to help my headachs are, getting a warm wash cloth and laying it across my forhead in a cool room, and just relaxing.. that doesn't happen much but does help. Applying pressure to my temples for a few seconds, and then rubbing them seems to help as well.
I do hope you feel better soon!

When i have headache i always go to doctor and the doctor gives me any suggestion. My doctor gives me medicine rarely. He just gives me any advices. One of the good suggestion is to reduce eat any kind of meats. This is a simple factor why human can feel headache. It is caused when the blood has high level by meats. So if you want to reduce headache, eat more vegetables before the headache coming. Prevent is more good than taking care our health.

I appreciate your comments, however I dont entirely agree with them.
I have a good diet....all our food is fresh and cooked at home. We dont buy any ready meals or processed food at all. Homecooked food is so much better for health than pre made dinners from the supermarket.
I also avoid any chemicals of any kind......no sweeteners, no E numbers, no artificial colours or flavourings.
But as humans, we need meat in our diets for our health. I cannot understand how removing a necessary ingredient from our diets can be beneficial in the long term.
When you say "blood has high levels by meats" is it the Blood Pressure you are referring to?
Blood Pressure problems are not caused by eating meat.....so Im not so sure what you mean, to be honest.
As for going to the doctor every time I have a headache, I would be embarrassed to waste his time with that.

Hi littletinker,
Headaches are very common and you shouldn't worry more about it.But you should understand that headaches are only symptoms and real problem can be something different. So you should consult a doctor,if you get it often.
There are certain tips that you can try yourself.
First if the headache is due to tension, put off the work, take sufficient rest.
If it is due to eye strain, switch off the lights, take rest in a dark room.If you get frequent eye strain, check your eye sight.
If the headache is due to stagnated air,go out for a fresh air.
Apart from this, you can have a cup of hot coffee, apply some pain relief cream and give a gentle massage.
Last but not the least you can have some paracetamol tablet.
I avoid taking any tablets for headaches.I only use external applications such as
Vicks vaporub,axe oil,tiger balm etc..
Happy mylotting

Hello,
When you say pain relief cream....what is this? I have only ever seen cream as in Ibuprofen gel for rubbing into aches and pains and I wouldnt rub that into my neck or head because of the properties it contains for reducing swelling.

That last sentence hit the nail on the head. A nice coupling is usually the perfect cure for a headache. Doctors recently verified this!

A nap, some sleep can help.
Willow is supposed to be beneficial.
Did it start this morning, or after you started being active? If it continues, you might want to get your eyes checked out. When I get headaches, it is often associated with my eyes struggling to make sense out of what I see...Sometimes you don't realize there is a problem, until your head hurts....
Hope you feel better!

Sleep would be helpful...and I think I will be having a nap very soon as I am tired today.
I dont think I need to have my eyes checked as I have my glasses on and the prescription i wear is good...so I dont think it is that this time, but I do know what you mean about eye checks.
What do you mean about Willow....the only willow I know is a tree and I cant fit a tree into my house lol

Even 2 Paracetamol will not relief your headache that so easily. I'd like to recommend you ADVIL. Fast and easy. After wards try to have a good sleep. Possible you have this kind of headache because you lack of sleep at the same time lack of food intake.
I advised you to eat your meal first then followed by ADVIL. For sure after you've sleep. Then the next thing you new. Your feel great and better! Happy lotting!

Hello,
Advil (which is a brand name) is ibuprofen and a different type of painkiller than paracetamol as it targets inflamation too.
I cannot take Ibuprofen as I have a kidney problem.
But....Paracetamol is the better painkiller as it concentrates on JUST pain, and not inflammation.
Thank you for your suggestion though :-))
