Would you rather rake the yard or shovel the snow?

I finally got to rake this morning, I really didn't want to do that because it was still cold and breezy last couple weeks. But my little flowers are growing, if Ididn't work now, it would be ruinning. So I decided to do something this morning since the sun is up today. Raking is the an easy job and I don't particularly like it. I was thinking which one I would choose between raking and shoveling when I was working in the yard. I think I would choose raking at least it is for the spring and shoveling snow is for the winter. Which one would you prefer? Do you feel motivated to do so?

There is not much snow that happens in my area, so the only snow shoveling I remember is that which I did as a child when we lived up north. My memories of it were great fun, but I'm sure I am romancing it up a bit. I know that I like to rake. I like the immediate gratification of it. Love raking leaves especially!

I would rather rake the leaves because the cold snow hurts my bones and joints.

Definately raking leaves. Mainly because shoveling snow implies cold weather and I hate being out in the cold. Plus snow can sometimes be really heavey and really difficult to shovel, plus there is always the risk that I will slip and fall while shoveling. Raking is fine because you usually get to be out there and the beautiful fall air, and they are light and fun to play with.

I would much rather rake leaves. It is fun watching the kids jump in the leaves.Snow here can get quite heavy and makes it very hasrd to shovel

Raking is definitely not as cold out when you do that, compared to shovelling. I can shovel, but depends on how cold it is...but when you do shovel, it's freakin' cold. hahahaha...I guess, neither one =) hahaha

Hand me a rake over a shovel any day! I detest winter, about the only thing I like is the very first snowfall as it is pretty, after that Im over it. I love the warmer weather of spring and getting outside. We had our first nice day day before yesterday and out I went, gladly with rake in hand! Our 2 year old loved it too right along with me. She would grab the leaves and throw them towards me trying to get me with them. I got the flower garden done and saw all the little shoots coming up and was thrilled with the idea that another winter is gone!

neither lol. I guess if I have to pick probably rake the yard. i've never shoveled snow but it seems like it would be harder then raking the yard. i would love to live where it snowed. I would just play in it then. Build a whole snowman family. I know people get tired of snow.

I thought it would be fun to see snow, play in the snow too, but after I experienced it couple times, I don't like it that much because it is really freezing cold... I don't like my fingers and toes always get cold... It is pretty and calm though when it is snowing I have to say. Thanks for sharing! ^_^

I rather rake the leaves. Picking up the leaves and putting it in the bags is alot of hard work I usually don't want to do. I find it as a chore but would do it for money or if it needs to be done.

I do not like the cold at all, so I would have to say that I would rather rake the leaves then shovel snow. I prefer to leave the snow shoveling to my husband and my boys.

I have not tried doing any of the two you mentioned. But in case I will be given the chance to do one of them I would choose to rake the yard. I have been wishing for so long to see a snow because there is no snow here in Philippines. The problem is I have little tolerance to cold weather and when it is Christmas here the weather gets colder. Even in malls or in my previous jobs I really wear jacket just to make myself more comfortable with the coldness coming from the air conditioner. I guess I need more time to adjust to cold environments, so what more if you will expose me to snow? I could last maybe for few minutes but not for an hour. So I decided to just rake the yard and sweat! Anyway it is a good exercise and it is a nice body workout.

Rake the yard, we have had so much snow this year and we are so sick of it already and even though it is my husbands job to do the snow plowing I would have to say rake the yard would be preferred, that means it would be nice out and the grass would be green again and well, once you cut the grass the leaves are all gone...LOL so I choose that one....LMAO!! happy mylotting!!

I would have to say that I would rather rake the yard. For one thing, it seems a little bit easier. Snow is heavy! Also, I love the spring and fall, which is when the most raking would need to be done. I really enjoy spending time outside at those times of year, and would probably enjoy the raking to a certain extent. I like the wintertime and the snow, but don't really like working outside during that kind of weather. I don't necessarily feel motivated to go out and rake the yard, but I don't mind doing it.

Being in Florida I have never had to shovel snow...I dont think I would like it too much though. Ill stick with raking the leaves, I might actually go out and do that today. My son has to do an outdoor chore for boy scouts so I might make this a family thing to do today. Depends on how hot it gets later because right now its only 71 and not too bad....kinda hoping it rains....

I would rather rake leaves any day. Raking the leaves means it's spring - YA! Shovelling snow means it's still winter - BOO! The only good thing about shovelling snow is that it's a good workout. If it's just hovering around 0 it's almost enjoyable to move a little snow. But there's nothing like being outside doing yard work on one of the first days that actually feel like spring.

Yup! Raking means I'm raking for the spring, shoveling the snow means get ready for the next snow storm - very irritating. Thanks for sharing! :-)

I would rather rake the yard than shovel the snow any day. I don't like having to get bundled up and be out in the cold, and then end up sweating in my warm clothes from shoveling! When I rake leaves, at least the air is still crisp and enjoyable. I enjoy fall more overall, as a season, because of the crisp and refreshing air and how the sun lies in the sky, so raking definitely wins in this competition!

I would much rather rake the yard - I love being out in the spring in the crisp air. However I don't like the winter and especially don't like the snow. Thankfully we have a snowblower but even so it was difficult for my husband since there was so much snow. I hope we're out of the snow for the year because I'm ready for the warm weather! I'm looking forward to seeing the flowers also!

I think I rather rake the yard then shovel the snow. Its much easier to rake the yard the yard. Shovoling the snow kills my back. I usually sweep the snow. I feel motiovated to rake the leaves in the yard then shovel.

I would definitely rather rake the leaves. It's warmer outside, and the leaves are a lot lighter. The snow is wet and heavy and I often don't have a place to put it. This winter was especially bad, because we received a lot of snow. Also, it is much more dangerous to be shoveling snow than what it is to be raking...my back never hurts when I rake, well not as bad. When I shovel the snow, my hurts like crazy, because of all that lifting. Also, when I rake the yard, it looks so much prettier and I want to stay outside and enjoy the beautiful view.

I would much rather rake the yard than shovel snow. When there is snow it is cold, and the snow if heavy. Raking the yard is usually done in the crisp, cool air of the fall, or the refreshing spring air.
