I did a lot of reading and research on "power napping" last year and tried it out myself. It REALLY works if you take a nap for 15 - 30 minutes (no more than 30) you will have felt as though you slept 8 hours. The reason for this is your brain has not gone into the 2nd stage of sleep yet, but it thinks it has and so you feel TOTALLY rested. Give it a shot!! :)

I dont see any bad thing about taking a nap. Taking a nap helps our memory processing and alertness. But one should take a nap at the right time and the right place. At work, we do have our break right? I guess that's the time that you can take a nap or whatever things you want like eating, calling or etc. But after that break I guess if it is time to work and you take a nap then I guess your boss will really get mad.It is part of work ethics. When I was working as technical representative before, I also felt the same way as yours, I am too sleepy in the middle of my job and it is true that it is really hard to overcome it and it is really a big temptation for me.I guess because I am sleeping too late at night and can't get enough sleep during night time because of that. There are also days that I spendtoo much time in front of my computer before takign a break and my brain needs time to refresh before getting on with work and that is why I am sleepy in the midst of my work. But, even if I take a nap during my break time my problem is getting dizzy and feeling drowsy as well, that is why i really have to find other way just to ease my feeling of being sleepy other than napping.
Anyway, I guess your boss is unfair when he tried to bring the issue in your meeting. He should deal that professionally with you if he has something against you.

i think so... i also love to take a nap and i always do that when i was still in primary school... even when i was in uni... but now that i am already working full time, i can't take a nap as i don't have the time to do that... we are not allowed to take nap in the office while working as it is against the policy... take care and have a nice day...

It is good thing and good in your health, my own opinion only.
If you are sleepy and can not concentrate on your work you should take a nap for a while. It will help you have a little rest with your eyes and lessen your sleepiness for short time. When you wake up from nap, you feel better than you did not try.

Do you think taking a nap is good?
Hello friend, I do think that taking a nap is good in the afternoon but the problem is taking a nap on the job is not so good because you could get fired. If you feel like your body require you to have to take a daily nap like between 12 noon and 2 pm. you might need to look for a job on the morning shift or the night shift. That way you will be free to take you afternoon nap.

i think taking a nap is good but rules are to be followed especially in a workplace. taking a nap is like recharging oneself from the lack of rest or sleep he had during the day. i think our body needs it only if we did not have enough sleep the previous night.

Taking an afternoon nap is good for everybody. Even if you are a child or an adult. The 10-minute nap is what they call the power nap. It may be a short time, but it will help to perk you up for especially if you are a bit tired from your work. Thats why our parents tell us to take a nap in the afternoon while we were still younger, so don't worry be happy.

A small nap inbetween work is good for health provided if you are able to. But not advisable as it can spoil our image in the organization. Why don't you nap up in a rest room.

Yes, it's a good thing because not only you get to rest but your eyes as well. I do during my lunch break but just simply good for like 15 minutes since lunch is only good for an hour and half. but taking a nap during office hours is a bad thing because it will reflect on your performance..be careful there.

I really think taking a nap is a good thing. It relaxes you and refreshes you!
Unfortunately for me, I don't fall asleep easily. I envy people who can sleep soundly fast!

Why not. I like to take naps too. I really like it, and I won't catch myself drowsy during the afternoon. I usually skip my lunch break, and take a half hour nap in my car. I actually do it almost everyday right now. So, it was good, and healthy I guess.

Hi rookiekan,
Having a small Nap after a continuous stress is a good thing but one can't do it at office. Instead of a Nap you can divert your Mind by giving relaxation to it. It can be done by cutting out the Unwanted thoughts and using the breath in and out technique for 5 to 10 times. When you feel like doing it, have a sip of tea or you can wash your face or you can even just go around your team members and speak to them for a few min's, which will fetch you a great relaxation. Tell me if it helps you.
Thank you

If you can do it, then nap away. I think it is a good idea to take naps in the middle of the day. It refreshes you and refocuses you back on work. Are people really being productive after a certain time. I reminded of that emerald nut commercial. All those things that happen when hit the wall in the afternoon.

Oh most definitely taking a nap is a good thing. Even though you may not necessarily be tired mentally, physically your body needs rest every now and then. If it doesn't get adequate rest, that's when people start to get sick.
