So, I was exercising regularly last year. My boyfriend and I were walking 3-5 miles a few times a week, but then we stopped... It's been very difficult for me to get back on track, but for the last month I have been exercising 3 days a week. I have also cut out some of the fat in my diet. I weighed myself last week, so in about three weeks I lost about 5 pounds. I am happy with this. I don't want to lose weight too quickly and just want to lose a pound or two each week while firming up and keeping my eating habits healthier. I am proud of myself. Are you watching what you eat and exercising? Do you find it easy or difficult? My boyfriend's mother and I get along really well and today we walked about a mile and then ran up and down some hills like kids playing. It was fun and I know it was good for us as well. We also did a bit of jogging and then some sit-ups back at her place. Do you have an exercise buddy? What fun exercises do you do? Some people like to dance, but that is really not for me. I like to vary it up. Sometimes we go to the gym, sometimes we walk/jog, and sometimes we just watch exercise videos indoors, or any combos of those things. How about you?

Hey Bethany, my wife and I are doing P90X. It is intense! I had to take a week off because I got sick and it was hard to get back into it because its so rigorus. I like it because its new and diferent. I lost about 8 pounds and I wasn't even trying to. Enjoy the summer.

Congrats. It is hard to get back on track... I know because I too have become derailed from the exercise train. It seems like my biggest problem is trying to balance a routine while taking care of my son. he is constantly sick with ear infections. I can take him to the day care at the gym, but not when he is sick. I would take him on a walk, but he loathes strollers. If I let him walk, the pace is so slow, I can't consider it a work out. So... I get derailed every couple months... it takes about a month for me to get defocused....then I get one month of exercise before I'm derailed again. I think its great that you have a partner to go with you.... I need a babysitter, and then I can start thinking about a partner. Enough about me... congrats on your weight loss. That is terrific!

Perhaps you could just do some aerobics in the house a few days a week to stay on track? It only takes 15-20 minutes a day... Thanks for your kind comments. Best wishes to you.

Good for you! I had started doing 30 minutes a day on my exercise bike. Then, several months ago my back got worse (I'll have to have back surgery, but they want to wait until the pain is just unbearable), and I had to stop. I started again this weekend, but I only do ten minutes. I keep the rate up to seven miles an hour for ten straight minutes. Right now that is all I can do. But I also walk my dog a couple of times a da (although the humid weather had shortened the time of the walks). I've lost ten pounds in the past month, which is good considering I had gained some back from a previous "diet." This time I've put myself on a calorie intake limit, and combined with steady exercise, I hope to lose more. But I want to do it slowly. The worst thing I can think of is losing the weight too fast, and having a lot of loose skin!

thats wonderful. your being so strong. i used to get my cousin to walk when he was overwieght. its the best thing. but since i moved away, hes gotten back to his old habits. i've been trying to get myself to walk my little dog in evening when its cool. they say its good for my disability with my arthritis. so the past few evenings i've gotten back to it.

I do agree with you that I also like to lose weight slowly. I do not have any exercise buddy. I would prefer to exercise alone. Usually i would go for cardio in gym and in the weekend, i would opt for outdoor activities like jogging, hiking and etc.

I like outdoor exercising. I just started exercising again too. I tried going running on my own and I didn't have enough motivation. So I joined a running group and while it is still a bit too much for me right now I am trying to hurry up and catch up to the rest of the group. At least if I am getting left behind on the track no wild animals are going to eat me.

I have just begun walking and jogging. I can walk forever but I'm bad at jogging! I have to stop every couple hundred metres and catch my breath. I've recently given up smoking and drinking so now that my vices are gone I'm trying to get my health back. It does help when you're exercising with a friend. My little brother often comes with me. I don't really watch what I eat..I guess I try to avoid saturated fats and greasy stuff becuase it makes me feel yuck but I exercise more for the way it makes me feel. The natural endorphins it releases is great!

exercise is good and important. Don't give up on it. Don't!! I have always been a freak when it came to exercise. I walked, biked, did 100 situps each morning and 40 pushups. I also did yoga. Then I got lame. It is so very hard to get back into it and also once you have all those muscles pumped...they unpump...it's harder to get it back. I do hoola hoop and jump rope, pushups, sit ups. I still do my yoga. I do have a friend to walk with but she is pretty lame....she was supposed to jump rope, hula hoop and do yoga with me. She has every story in the world to avoid doing these things.

I am glad that you found yourself a way to get motivated again. I know it can be really hard especially if you don't have an exercise buddy. Sometimes I will go walking with a friend of mine but now that school is out I won't be seeing her. No, we are not students - we are the mothers of students. Recently we got a Wii Fit and I have been using that but it has only been about 10 days or so. According to the scale of the Wii Fit, I haven't lost any weight yet, but it has always been very hard for me to lose. I would like to be around fifty pounds lighter, but I don't know if I will ever get there. Right now my goal is to lose ten pounds in the next 2 months and then I will go for another ten, but let's not count those chickens before they are hatched, right?

good on you for being able to go back to track on doing exercise again... i and my hubby just want to start to make a commitment to start exercising as we feel that our lifestyles are so unhealthy... and our GP asked us to start exercising before it is too late for both of us... thanks for reminding us again to start exercising and keep up the good work... take care and have a nice day...

My boyfriend and I started exercising this week, but I have been doing my best to exercise by myself for many months now. Even after I had my cyst removed (it was on my buttocks of all places), I began exercising as soon as I could.

That's great that you found a routine that works for you. I'm trying to watch what I eat more than I used to. I definitely could lose about ten pounds. I also like to walk and I use a rebounder (mini trampoline) when I watch a TV show.

The best exercise form that I found myself enjoying is cardio boxing. We call it Body Combat in my Group Exercise class in the gym. I have only been a member of that gym for around three months but I have been regularly jogging 2-3 times a week for years. I have always been conscious of my health and of what I eat. I found out that I got my metabolism from my mother side so I taught myself to be extra careful - I realized that I could gain 2lbs a day easy if I didn't watch what I ate. My boyfriend and I joined the gym together and we've been jogging together even when we were in college. He has it easy though, he never becomes fat :) Thanks for the response on my discussion :)

I was excercising about 5 days a week a couple of months ago. i do good for a long time and start losing weight and feeling good. Then, some inevitable thing happens. I either manage to injure myself (not excercising, but we'll just say walking) or something happens and I get too stressed out or depressed to continue. I gained weight after breaking my hip in judo a few years ago. I haven't been able to get to where I was since. I've completed all of my therapy and have to do yoga everyday. I need to go back to judo to lose the weight I can't get rid of. I went from buring 800 calories an hour to not being able to walk. I'm not saying how much I've gained, but it's scary. I try to do about an work myself up to at least an hour of cardio when I get going.
