Creating A New Dish...

New Dish... - New Dish...

Well, last night I tried a new dish. I bought a box of big shell noodles (the kind for stuffing). I took a bag of seasoned ground beef, half a can of spaghetti sauce and half a carton of cottage cheese. I mixed the meat, sauce and cottage cheese together in a bowl and stuffed spoonfuls into the big shells. I covered the bottom of a baking dish with the stuffed shells and then added hot water to the other half of the spaghetti sauce and poured it over the shells. I added a little more water till all the shells were covered and then sprinkled shredded cheese over the whole thing. I topped it with some parmesan cheese and popped it in the oven for 45 minutes. Boy, was it good. Kind of like lasagna but with different pasta. Hubby seemed to have liked it as well since he had two big helpings…maybe he will chime in and give his opinion. I also made corn on the cob with it…another one of our favorites. I haven’t thought up a name for the dish yet though. BTW, the pic isn’t one of my dishes but I thought it was a gorgeous dish. Would you try this dish? Do you ever just create a dish to see how it turns out? What would you call this dish? **AT PEACE WITHIN** ~~STAND STRONG IN YOUR BELIEFS~~

That dish sounds yummy...kinda like Lasagna shells..maybe thats what its called. I do love to make my own dishes...just throw everything in and see how it comes out. I make potato salad like that...I have never seen anyone else make it like this but its my own favourite...I mash the potatoes once they are cooked, add chunks of hard boiled eggs, celery, green peppers and red if I have any, onions, chunks of cheddar cheese and chunks of ham..shredded carrots and mayo...I am making some this weekend for a BBQ...YUM!!

Oh that sounds good twoey. I like to play around with new dishes too sometimes. And, like yours, I prefer to experiment with the pasta dishes. I love pasta so I guess that's why and there is so much you can do with it.

Gee....I'm hungry already. Way to go, chef! :) See? You don't have to go to Chef School to learn to concoct new dishes. All it takes is some imagination. You have to let your eyes and mind do the smelling and tasting. This is what makes a cook a chef, too. Experimentation is important; failure is expected. Through experiments and failure we learn to be better cooks. HAPPY COOKING!

It sounds real good. I love anything w/pasta & spaghetti sauce. i sure would try it. I am very creative w/my cooking. I have a hard time telling anybody how to make something because i add a little bit of this & a little bit of that. I think a good name would be shells supreme.

That sound good, I'll have to remember this and try it some time. It does kind of sound like lasagna, which I love and seams like it would be easy to make.

I have made revision too of a spaghetti dish before. Since we do not have meatballs on hand at that time, I decided to just put sardines instead. It tasted good. What is better is that I was able to save money, which was really my target.

man, whatever you were trying to cook, i can guess it must not be delicious, coz you mixed a hell of thing in one pot, man, what i can guess is you should call this dish as "screwed up meat". thanks to give us such a prethetic idea

Yum! Sounds good. I'm still trying to figure out what it is that my daughter calls "cooking". Let's see...what would I call your dish? How about "Shells a'poppin".

Pasta Surprise! Okay that's a silly name that doesn't really divulge what is in it. Hmm, maybe Baked Spaghetti Shells, as it seems similar to baked spaghetti in that it uses cheese. I wish I was more creative, but that's what I came up with. I think that I might try the dish myself, although I'm not sure how cottage cheese would go with the whole thing but I can only assume it was barely tasted, I'm not a cook (lol) I don't cook yet, that is, so I never create something to try it out.

Oh that sounds so good right about now. I would just call it stuffed shells. I make them sometimes but I don't use any meat with mine. I also don't use cottage cheese. I used ricotta instead. Everyone loves them except for my son. He doesn't like anything with ricotta cheese. Weird.

Sounds delicious! I don't have much imagination, so I'd probably just call them stuffed shells...lol. It sounds like you didn't pre-boil the shells, right? I've never tried them that way, bet they're easier to stuff. In fact, I might make that this weekend! Thanks for the idea!
