Street foods are common in most places. Every variety of street foods are offered to all walks of people. While still in high school, my classmates and I loved to eat them. Not until one of my classmate got Hepatitis A that every one in my school stop eating street foods. It was found out that the most probable cause is eating street foods. I still eat street foods until now, but not too often. My friend commented that the dirtier the food is prepared, the tastier it is. The preparation, utensils and cleanliness are disgusting, but still many people eat them. I know he's wrong, but I have to admit that street foods are very appetizing. Do you eat street foods and how often?

I used to eat street foods a lot before. Yes, they are indeed tasty and good to look at. But the risk of getting sick is high being exposed to pollution and the elements. Sanitation and hygiene is also a problem and chances are one will pick up bacteria and viruses in all forms. I tend to be careful in my eating habits now. enjoy life!

I guess the reason why eating street foods when I was younger is that my immune system can handle these bacteria and germs. But now, with new viruses and high profiled sickness, I didn't eat that much. Better to buy it in a grocery store and prefer it my self.

I used to eat street food too but not anymore because I'm afraid of catching a disease, especially now that there are lots of diseases spreading, the scariest of all being the ah1n1 flu. It would be better if people would be a lot more careful to protect their health.

Sometimes I ate them. But, they are not healthy in my opinion. The ingredients used wasn't natural currently. It can cause a side effect on our health. If we eat them oftenly, maybe we would get sick. So, be careful.

So the key here is to be "careful".

I eat some street foods at times it depends whether I think the van looks clean or not. I have no problem eating things like doughnuts, chestnuts and chips, but if it is meat or something like a proper meal then I have my reservations.

That's what everyone told me, and everyone believes. It's not bad to eat it though it's not healthy, as long as you don't each much, like every single day ^_^ I eat streetfoods whenever I'm hungry and my penny is short for meal ^_^ haha

When I was in my childhood, I enjoyed the street food a lot. Each time I got off school, my friends and I would like to find something to eat near the street food vendor. There were so many things to choose, such as candy, skewer and some special snacks. Some of them were made by the local people and it was difficult to buy them from the market. It has been an impressive memory in my brain so far. Now I rarely go to eat street food. I am concerned with the hygiene and cleanliness in these places. However I still want to try some street food, If I could find something I was very interested in.

I’ve eaten street food since childhood and have never fallen sick because of it. Street food is present everywhere in the world mainly because they provide with a variety of food at affordable price to the poor and middle-class. A lot many people suffer from hepatitis, chronic stomach problems and indigestion and such but I don’t think street food is the culprit. Until and unless the hygiene part is really compromised, street food causes so problem. You have to get used to it and the body automatically adjusts its immunity level. And yes, you really have to enjoy the food...food that is not enjoyed in eating or which you eat with a doubt, never gets digested properly.

In NYC we use to get hot dogs from street vendors, they were really good. I do agree that they aren't the cleanest places to eat, but they are really popular.

Hi Fulltank, Street foods are common in every places and it is usual that many are eating street food. Every time there will be a rush near to the street vendors (food). It will be tasty because they are using more oil than the needed and some other ingredients to add the taste but it is not good for health. Normally people are not bothered about the health in first hand but attracted to the taste and consuming the same just because of the taste. Cleanliness may not be there, but the dirty thing won’t add the taste. I don’t like to eat the street foods and I prefer home made foods.

Well our streets in India offer a tremendous variety of food.Very mouth watering and very unhygienically prepared. But every now and then I cannot resist having them , they are so delicious.I know they can cause diseases but the ratio of illness to the number of times I have tasted these foods is remarkably low. So frankly I do not care that much about getting ill, I would carry on experimenting with street food.

I think the most common street food around here would be hotdogs. I probably have had food from street vendors a few times in my life. I agree though, it's not very healthy to do.

When it comes to street food, there is rarely any middle ground with it:you love it or hate it. Concerns of freshness and cleanliness often discourage people from eating street food, which is often connected with take-out, junk food, snacks or finger and fast food. But from where I stand, street food can bring us some unexpected happiness and experience. It is really an amazing thing to go out for street food if you are getting together with your friends. For some travellers, street food is really a part of a region’s food culture, which is attractive for people from other places.
