I always have problems with desktop computers specially the old ones but I can fix it as I'm a computer technician. I don't have much problems with laptops/notebooks just don't let it overheat. To protect your computers at all times, use an antivirus and internet security and always turn on your firewall. Scan your system at least once a week. Clean your computer at least once every two months and put extra fans in your cpu for proper ventilation. Heat is also one common problem of computers.
If you need help you can message me here.

Hi! I'm using my Apple iMac for more than a year now. It's an early 2009 20" alu Apple iMac model with Intel core 2 duo. I have just bought Apple Magic Mouse because the Apple Mighty Mouse lost his ball because of dusts ...lol
I'm doing a lot of things with this computer like games, downloading audios, videos and a lot more. Doing and creating multimedia stuffs and developing websites. For now I'm studying and learning programming language for developing applications and others for developing websites like C, Objective C, java, html5 and more.
I don't have any issues or problems with this computer, it totally satisfied what I wanted for a computer. My only issues was the internet but not on this computer but with the Internet Service Provider because of slow and loosing internet connections.

First of all problems comes as free with any product and computer is not an exception
In order to avoid more problems you can try these basic steps which you can improve performance of your computer
a) Turn of the system when not required.
b) Clear all the unwanted files such as temp, prefetch, cookies, etc
c) do defragment and disk clean up.
d) remove unwanted software and tool bars..
e) try cleaning your cpu by using can of fresh air ..
Thanks,
Sasi

First thing to realise is that the Internet is much slower than your computer, so a faster, more powerful computer will not speed up your surfing.
Second thing is that Windows is bad at keeping its house in order. A new PC is really fast but as the months go bye it will get slower as it builds up rubbish in the registry.
Add a virus/trojan/worm into the mix and it will really grind slow.
So to overcome it you need to re-format your hard disc and re-install Windows - BUT THERE IS A PROBLEM HERE! Before doing this you need to know a lot about your computer and check you have the required discs and/or drivers. Also you need to back up all your data, emails and address book/contact list.
As said above, if your PC manufacturer put a Factory Restore program on your drive then great but many don't. Then you will need to know, BEFORE you format, all your motherboard details and chipset, graphics card model, sound card details, etc. with a program like Si-Soft Sandra.
Then you need to have a full copy of Windows with it's Key Code and program discs for all your programs like Office, DVD player, graphics, camera, printer, scanner, etc.
In other words, you need to do a lot of preparation work before your PC ever gets near the snail stage or it will take forever to get it back to speed.

I've had tons! I think that's why I know so much about fixing them lol. Haven't had much experience fixing laptops though so that sucks seems as laptops aren't really as reliable as a desktop computer. I've had experience with all brands and kinds of laptops from netbooks to big bulky gaming ones. Some failed me like batteries aren't charging and getting recognized, or the LCD monitor suddenly failing on me. I found Apple laptops to be a lot more durable and less susceptible to petty problems though. But everyone's using PC so that makes it difficult to use an Apple Mac too. HP batteries are the worst!!!!

Hi codris: I would say that not only that, but I was responsible of these problems most of the times. When I was an adolescent I love to download games and other things to my computer without caring for the risks of the viruses that infect the computers. As you can imagine, my neglect has caused a lot of troubles, specially on my dad's computer. But now that I have grown up, I think I care more for my own laptop. Thanks for asking us this question. Have a nice day.

i know these are the basic and regular problem with most of us i think. even i face this too but everything is better with my laptop but i have problems with internet most of the times sometimes it works properly and sometimes there is no network coverage and so on and it is really very boring as whenever there are problems with internet we usually need it due to some or the other important work.

Thankfully I've not had any problems with my own computer but then again I know how to maintain it as I took a course in computer maintenance and installation two years ago. I used to be inundated with problems in the past as I had no knowledge of computers whatsoever. I think that it definitely pays in the long run to study a course on computer maintenance as this will save you the cost of technician fees! You can fix everything yourself and you feel so much happier as a result.
I think that a lot of people face problems as a result of software incompatibility! That's to say some people ignore the minimum system requirements on the back of the software cd envelope. They might accidentally install software that was compatible with xp let's say and not vista and then their system would freeze up and no longer work.
There are a few things I do on a weekly basis in order to make sure that I keep my system running smoothly! I carry out a disk Defragmentation once per month on the first Friday of each month and this helps the hard drive to perform better and a lot faster. I also carry out a disk cleanup once per week, every Friday. This gets rid of all your temporary files, browsing history etc.
I also make sure that my start up folder only contains programs that I want to start up when I first turn on my computer. All these different things, if you don't do them then programs build up and there are probably programs that you no longer use and it all takes up space and ultimately there will be times that your computer just freezes and you cannot do anything.
There's a nice utility that I use and it's free to download and I highly recommend it, it's called ccleaner. You can download it from the following website: www.ccleaner.com This basically carrys out the same action as the built in disk cleanup utility but it performs a whole lot better in my view. I also like the fact that it cleans your windows registry for you! Over time with the installation and uninstallation of programs there will be keys as they are referred to in the Registry that are left over and these all take up space and slow down your computer. Ccleaner just carrys out a scan and checks everything over.
Overall I'm really pleased with my system! I look after my computer and by the same token I guess my computer looks after me now. I love computers, I definitely have a lot of time for them in my life! Andrew

I think you should learn some computer and internet acknowledge.if your internet don't work,I think you should check the internet port,if your computer works very slow,I think you should load your system again,if the program doesn't work in one kind of system, I think it the problem of the compatibility.

Ya, there are times when we have problems. But I have a fairly new laptop purchased about 9 months ago with enough power to handle my tasks. So I don't have system slow downs. I have windows 7 ultimate installed and you may know window 7 is the most stable(if not the fastest) operating system by microsoft and combined with some good specs you will have a very nice experience. And it is a lot better than vista at least which used to slow down my pc a lot. Make sure you are not using vista. I have also installed a free antivirus from microsoft corporation named microsoft security essential and it is just as good as commercial anti-viruses.
I also got a hardware problem in my dvd writer which I got replaced by the company and I am now a happy and problem free.

I too get problems in my Home Pc or Laptop sometimes... The most regular ones are the virus that affects the system though i have anti-virus installed in the system. Then are also the broadband connections that does not work many times. The better option to keep the computer in the dustfree environment also.
