Well since I am a stay at home mom, I know I will be going back to work in about a year or so. However, if I could retire then I definitely would. I do think that if my kids were grown I would still like to have a little part time job somewhere. Just to have a little extra money and to keep busy.

Hi Missybear,
Truth is, my dream is to retire an early age. LOL. I would really want to spend more time enjoying life and spending quality time with my family and loved ones at an early age and not being able to enjoy much with them because I'm already old, knees are killing me and I can't eat too much meat anymore. However, just like you, I would also want something to keep me busy. Probably I'll teach part time or business or anything that will make amuse me once in a while.
Good luck to our dreams.
Cheers,
Honey

i considered myself as retired now because I am not working hahaha but the only difference is I am not receiving any pension.. hehehe Well, If I have to choose? for example I have a full time job and my age would already qualify for retirement? I would definitely retire. That's for sure while I still can get my pension.

If they would give me my retirement pay. That would be equal to at least 10,200,000 I would start my own business or buy a franchise. I would also concentrate in writing. I really would like to start my freelance writing career but having a full time day job deprives me from doing what I really like doing. I am a home buddy kind of person, so It would really be a treat of I can spend more time at home with my family. Though I am not thinking of retiring yet since I am too young to do that now.

Since you're a home buddy writing a book would be great if you had any spare time.

If I could retire on what I make now I would be happy even though I don't make a lot but enough to pay my bills and that's all I need

I would retire though I never actually worked yet. I think the possibility of retirement for me is if I win the lottery, meet Bill Gates and he decides to pity a hard working student and give me a million dollars or if a spacecraft crashes unto my backyard and the government decides to pay me off to keep me quiet about it (I have been watching X-files). If any of those scenarios happen, I would most definitely retire and travel the world (or at least the United States).

I don't think so. I'm still quite enjoying my work now. :-) Being able to work online is such an opportunity that it's somehow so possible to go places if things get boring.

Hi missy! Well, I'm kind of "retired" in a way. I'm Disabled
and can't do the stuff I used to do. I have a bad knee and
ankle and some other health issues so I am home alot and I
try to keep myself busy. I don't have any real hobbies, but
I am good at doing nothing!

I'm still quite young (in my mid 20s) so it's hard to imagine retiring! But if I were given the choice I would only retire if I had some other hobbies and ideas of things to do lined up. I would get so bored just sitting at home every day and not having a purpose each day. If I had some hobbies, maybe a member of a book club or craft club, things like that that would fill in my day that I'd enjoy I'd totally be up for retiring!

No, I don't i would ever retire, perhaps, reduce my work load to working part-time or something but definitely not to sit around and do nothing, it's not as good as you think to do nothing, it would be quite novel for a week or a month or so, especially if you need that break from a really stressful job, I'm sure evryone would feel more or less the same. What I find really annoying is that in some jobs, when you've been working there for 30-40 years and then come retirement age, they say you have to leave even when you don't want to leave. In this day and age, people are fitter and living much longer, so at 60/65, you can still be very active and for some, that job was there life and soul, and to take that away, it could destroy someone, to prevent them from seeing the people they used to see everyday, doing the things that they did, for some, it's all they know, and they would be lost...

That definitely happens to some people. I work with a guy that's 84 and he's retired but he volunteers 3 hours a day be course he doesn't want to sit at home.
Then theres my mom who's retired for 12 years now and she loves it.

I will not retire. i feel i am still 18. Age is just a number. When i changed jobs i was at home not more than a day. I felt so bored. I have been so workoholic that i dont want to sit at home...i either go to work or go out to see friend and relatives.

Hi Missy,
If I have choice, yes, I would retire. I want to personally attend to the needs of my family, be there when they get home, cook food for them everyday and not just during weekends, oh, there are so many things I want to do that I can't do now coz I have a full time job. But I can't afford to retire now, I still need the financial freedom my job provides, and I haven't found good work-at-home job that will help me sustain the family's financial needs. So meantime, I'll stay with my current job.

No, I like working. When you find a job you love then there is no reason to retire. A lot of retired people end up working part time or they enter into a depression. Man was not meant to be ideal, even if you retire from a paying job. You would work, just at something else...
