I ordered bags online on my daughters friend who owns an online shop. And Im happy that I got it yesterday, I gave the man 100.00 pesos as a tip but he refuse it. Huh he don't want money? He just told me its fine and thank you. But I insist I just told him it is very rare like him to refuse to get money for a service. I admire people like him that don't demand extra money rather to those who are rude and always expect money in return. I encounter many people like that specially taxi drivers in the city who always want to have extra payment in advance word, and explain many problems while driving, like it is traffic and bhla, bhla, bhla it is like they are taking advantage of the situation I always gives tips to those who did not ask and I can always understand a situation like that. I pity those who are not demanding to have extra money on their service.

hi lyn, It depends if he deserve it I mean there are people who you can sense that they are worth to have a tip but I don't like those people who assume and can't wait to have a tip like telling that it's hard to find my place or it's not easy to find blah!blah!blah. But I don't forget to thanks happy mylotting

Here in America, we do tip for tings like a pizza delivery, but if you are talking about Fed-Ex, I wonder if they are allowed to take tips? Because my one neighbor, who knows a lot about the finer part of America's culture, doesn't tip.

I know there are some company's that don't allowed their employees to receive tips to the costumer like the one who assist me in the grocery store he refused it because its a company policy.

Maybe that was the case here, it was against the company policy, then again you would think he'd say that..

I try to but I don't always have the money. It embarrasses me when I don't have the money though. I feel the delivery people should get a little tip for their effort.

When I was working in the hotel I always received tips from our guest. When I was new to my job, I refused to accept it but the guest who give me he said "it's because of my good service to him, I am deserving to got it". Time passed by it's normal for us to received some tips from the guest. What I did in returned? We normally, ordered food from KFC and Max. Everytime we have our food, we always give tips to the delivery boy specially when it was Filipino. Since then when I am serve I always give tips like going to a bar, restaurant and other places. Last week I check-in in a no star hotel, the one to give me service I give them all a tips.

I give tips and money to anybody who does a fine service to me and that includes all cause it's a small amount and I know it will never hurt my finances. I am a Christian who believes that God would return 10 fold whatever you give freely and with love, God loves a cheerful giver http://bible.cc/2_corinthians/9-7.htm . I always tell them "hindi ito lagay" ( this is not a bribe), I give it freely to a job well done, if they do not want to accept it then I forcefully insert it to their pocket. Yesterday a guard from the homeowners association delivered some I.D.s for my workers, i gave him "pang mirienda" ( for afternoon snacks) cause i was so grateful and told him the same thing " it's not bribe" I complied with all the requirements! It was different when meralco inspector came to check on me today, checking my meter and asking questions ( i managed to put down my electric bill from 12.000-10.000 php to 6.000 by legally by saving), inspecting a lot of things and suspecting that i have illegal connection, I told him my meter is original, untampered!, this is family estate and i have been living here for 40 years! no tip for this guy, only something a little short of a tongue lashing!

I thinks it is really necessary to give him a tip since he is only inspecting your meter and if you do so he might thought that you are doing something illegal.

you have a good point, but I also give a little something to city business inspectors even if my business is legal, inspectors inspect every quarter even if I paid my permit for one whole year already cause it's just SOP, I give them just to show appreciation and it's voluntary on my part, have a little chat etc..., they would be glad too to assist you next year when you come to renew

Hi lynboobsy11! Upon reading your post I realized that you may also be from the Philippines like me! You are so lucky to meet a delivery boy who do not accept tips! I actually hate taxi drivers who ask for extra 50 pesos just because they claim that it is traffic on the place where you are heading. I actually met a delivery boy who stole my money in McDonald's delivery. The story is quite complicated to tell because I paid 2 times and the delivery boy went away with my money. To make the story short, my mom paid 500 pesos for our food in Mcdo to be delivered at home because she won't be able to get home early. Not knowing that she already paid the delivery boy and asked the boy to deliver it at home, I paid him again 500 pesos from my own pocket. We just knew that we paid 2 times the next day when I was asking my mom to give me back the 500 pesos that I spent for McDo.

did you not bother to go back on the store to clarify? Maybe the delivery boy don't know that it is already paid. it's a big amount I hope you make an follow up call about the double payment.

I am not around when most of my packages are delivered. But at Christmas I try to leave something for the postman/woman..or I used to. Now we don't have one that does our mail delivery....they have several. So if I am around and it's Christmas then I do..otherwise no. They don't expect it here.

I will gladly tip those people who give me good service and who make less than minimum wage. Taxi drivers, for instance, frequently take their cars back to the garage having worked all day and they actually owe the company money. People who serve my food when I go to restaurants make just a couple of dollars per hours, below minimum wage, and depend on their tips for the bulk of their income. If they treat me well I tip generously. Here, a lot of our delivery services have unions that protect their wage earning abilities. I do not tip them as they make a good living wage. I will, though, give them a Christmas card with cash inside to show them my appreciation for a year of good and polite service and the extra things they do like hiding my package from view of the street when I'm not home but in a place I can see it from my front door.

It depends on my mood and with my pocket If the delivery guy is nice and I have extra coins, then it's fine. If the delivery guy is handsome...oh well- that still remains to be seen

I believe that it's not that he doesn't need money. He need it but of course, he wants to be honest and live with integrity. I respect and admire those kinds of people. I agree that those kinds of people are rare today. I don't pity those who live with integrity but pity those who live by taking advantage of situations. Those who live with character and integrity will always be rewarded for their good deeds. If not in this earth, it will be in heaven.

We're the same! I also get discouraged to give tip to those who ask for it even before a service was rendered. And even after that, I wanna be the one to give it willingly. I hate being dictated like that. We reward good and honest service; we pay for the services we require and it's not a privilege so these people better stop their sob stories on how difficult it is for them. If that's the case then they should just quit and let others perform their jobs better.

I give tips to people who aren't expecting it. And when they smile for getting them, I feel good happy afterwards that I mad somebody's day

i never gave beacuse i never go to hotel.if i go the i think i will give give tip because i think they deserve that however i think the fassion of tip is insulting for weaters and server.i think they shpuld be given proper income according to their work so they dont have to ask for tips.
