I have finally managed to get into the mind set that is necessary for me to diet. I like food and dieting is not enjoyable for me, however I have found one that is pretty good for the last week and have lost two and a half pounds in that time, so now I am encouraged to continue.
The idea is simple, one day I can eat plenty of meat, eggs, fish, cheese etc. but almost no carbohydrates. I can eat as much fruit and vegetables as I like. The next day I can eat loads of pasta and carbohydrates (not cakes or biscuits) but a very limited amount of protein. The days do not have to be alternated, as long as the rules are kept for the strict intake of either protein or carbohydrates.
It can fit in well with the rest of the family meals too providing you keep off the sugar, the bread and oil.

Being careful about sugar, bread and oil will do the trick right there. I like that there are plenty of choices, you are less likely to feel deprived. I just basically am increasing my veggies and I feel so much better. The most restricted diet I ever went on allowed one slice of bread daily and a teaspoon of butter or margarine. It also suggested a veggie soup of choice a cup full before both the midday and evening meal. All kinds of veggies were okay, just clear based and not creamy. Then small servings of lean meat and lots more vegetables. Good luck on changing your eating style. I do not like the word "diet" the first three letters spell "die".

I had not noticed 'die' and I will try and forget about it GG! My diet allows plenty of food so I think I am safe for now.

I couldn't eat enough to go on a diet like that. I do well to eat one small meal a day. Some days I get through with just a bagel with some cream cheese and then others I'll fix a full balanced meal. I don't have a problem with weight but a problem with balanced eating.
I'm glad you found something that you think will work for you. Keep us informed on your progress.

I will try that! Unfortunately, I'm not a person who loves fruits and vegetables. I can eat healthy like that for a day or two but then I crave pasta, bread, butter, etc. I notice you said biscuits are forbidden, I assume that means what Americans call cookies? That diet sounds like something I could manage quite well! There are days I crave good wholesome protein and vegetables (not many, though) and others where I'll just die if I can't have some toast with real butter on it (I notice you say stay away from butter!) or a bowl of cereal.
My downfall is carbs and this sounds manageable. I'll try it, thanks! Does it have a name that I can look up for more details?

Yes it does, it is called Food Optimising and the company is called Slimming World. There are lots of clubs in England but I do not know if they are international.

I have heard of this diet before since my mom told me my brother and his wife are on it or something like it. They lost 7 pounds in a week. I need to try this diet because i'm told by my doctor for health reasons i need to lose weight. Tho i'm like you i hate diets and like food. I have tried so many other diets and i have hated them all due to not enough food and i get hungry. So now i either do weight watchers and i will try this diet too. Thanks for the info on it and for the conversation. Have a wonderful day and good luck on the diet keep us posted on how it is working.

There is not a lot of difference in the two diets, both are healthy and teach you to eat wisely. Seven pounds in a week is rather a lot and they may not keep that up for long. Generally speaking the weight comes off quickly at first and then it levels out. I am losing it slowly but I remind myself each week that I am lighter than I was 7 days ago.

Wow! That's cool... actually I love also eating and dieting is not my habit. Its cool to know that you have found the right and healthy diet.
To be honest I don't have any idea what to eat... I just eat a lot food without thinking about the carbo or fatty contents of each dishes... as long as it is good in taste I will eat them all... hehehe!
My problem though is I have to do some fasting... when I want something desperately to ask God I usually do fasting along with the prayer... so imagined my struggles... lol! :) Have a great day!

I like having lots of fruits and veggies. I don't do any special dieting. I eat what I want but I limit concentrated sweets to once or twice a month. I eat potatoes, bread and pasta when I feel like it. I limit the amount of fats that I eat though, but there is no bad food. I just use portion control and I'm gradually losing. I follow the Weight Watchers mind set for my eating pattern and it works. My brother list 160 pounds. I lose slowly but I'm getting there.

I did Weight Watchers too some years back and I reached goal without too much trouble. We did have a good lady leading us and she was very strict if we did not lose any weight or stayed the same for too long. Gradually losing weight is the answer and exercising a good deal of patience to continue the course. I'm sure you are going to get there and 'take a twirl' to show people just how good you look.

All diets should be varied, nutritional, provide all the vitamins and minerals our body needs, we shouldn't try to cut out a particular food, but eat it in moderation, smaller meal sizes and water to accompany the meal. Personally diets don't work for me, I went through endless dieting in my teens, I ballooned to 16 stone I was always a 'fat kid' throughout childhood, school life and in my teens. I have found only exercise will keep the weight off and sensible eating without cutting out the things I enjoy eating. I wish you success naturally with your diet plan my friend. After joining the gym in my twenties I dropped from 16 stone to 12 and a half. I've continued going to the gym, although losing weight is not as easy as it once was, but I still go three times a week.

If you can find a food diet or lifestyle change that works for you and keeps you healthy then go for it. I like to limit my fats because they are harder to work off. I like lean protein because I like working out and I don't want to feel sluggish. Fruits are very important because we need our vitamins and veggies are the most important. We need our nutrients. Sounds like you've got a good thing going. Good luck.

Hi there 41CombedaleRoad,
That was a good food combination. I guess, I can give it a try. Aside from that, I can save a lot of rice if I lessen my carbo intake.

Hi, meat egg, ice cream, cheese all carries fat and these food should be taken as less as possible. We should take more fruits and vegetables. We can select more cucumbers to full our stomach and this food contains very less calories. Have a very nice day.

thats sounds like a good diet. Always good when you can eat many things, like that. Good luck with it. Try and drink lots of water as well.

beware of fruits as they also contain carbohydrates - 50g or less per day (for me at least) and youll burn fat sitting on the couch
