Jobs and business both have their pros or cons . Jobs provide a fixed income and business provides a flexibilty of time . Wheras in jobs you need to be consistent and in business you can work at ypur will .
But jobs have high pressure of work and business too has many tensions
I certainly prefer working under someone as i like gaining experience and knowledge .
Which one do you prefer?

I think, sometimes its easier said than done.
The risk factor starting your own business over a handsome paying job, could be deciding factor.
I think we need to have a solid backup plan when going for business, unless our business model is out of box.

Tried both ways.. I prefer being my own boss. Especially when I was bossing around while I was working too. It was too much responsibility and time restrictions.

Both have their advantages and disadvantages, but I would much rather work on my own.
I am already a pretty anxious person and I don't like people looking over my shoulder so working by myself I get to be by myself with no one looking over me, plus I don't have to worry about another department or anything depending on me.

I am currently employed and I like my work.I feel, since I do not belong to business family, I need some real time experience working under someone to understand and gain experience, knowledge and wisdom.
The day I feel that I have progressed enough in my job and there is nothing more to achieve or if I feel stagnancy, then only I would like to start my own business.

@Lazyblogs But that experience has little value, when you want to venture into different domain altogether.
Now, if I am working in software company and I want to start my business as a restaurant, all my experience over here will have little or no use.
So how will that experience be invaluable.
It would be starting from zero, isnt it?

@avi256 working in a software company certainly teaches you public ethics and nothing goes to waste ever . Everything will go to use on day or other . Maybe this software knowledge will help you develop a diffrent and enviroment friendly software for billing process

Working under someone would make you gain experience and learn on the process. This would let you experience working with a team and working on your own. Once you've mastered, you can easily breeze through the day and not to mention that your health care is covered.
Being your own boss you would learn on your own and get to see which strategy would help your business. You get to work at your own time and even have sidelines. What you earn depends on how determined you are.
Both have advantages and disadvantages. I prefer being my own boss. I can manage my time and I get to stay at home whenever I get sick.

@Lazyblogs I worked for companies for 4 years before I ventured to have a business of my own. There are times I miss working form them and at times thankful I am on my own.

For me, I'd prefer to work for others when I was just graduated from university, then after gaining some experience, I'd like to start my own business.
I enjoy being a freelancer now, though it's not really like a big business, I enjoy having the flexibility and freedom. I can choose what, how and when I want to do my work, though there is no fixed and stable income. I actually get to learn more in different areas as well, as I have to do everything on my own now.
Moreover, my main reason of being a freelancer is to take care of my children, so I am really happy with it. I am thinking even though my children have grown up, I might not go out and work for others too.

I would definitely choose business!! Jobs are fine when you get paid handsomely but other than that, owning a business will give you all the benefits of living an authentic life. Provided that you plannned for the business very well and asked help from God.

I like both and have done both. A big pro for a job is a steady paycheck and knowing a day to day job. Having a business one never knows if the money is going to keep coming in. I would prefer a business if I knew it was going to be a steady flow of money. I would prefer working at home as well. I have done the storefront thing and it is stressful and I was in a small town so it could get a little boring at times.

@Lazyblogs Risks definitely make things exciting. I go through stages on being risky and then not wanting to be risky. I know one has to be risky in order to make head way. :)

Job first (straight out of high school or college) to gain experience and credentials from those higher than you. Than once you feel comfortable enough in your profession, venture out on your own and be your own boss. Control your own destiny. It depends on if your a confident extrovert or a shy introvert.

Self employment sir. I don't like being monitor like I am the bad guy in the prison. I like flexibility, managing my own time and make myself own money. Many jobs are self employment, some needs capital and some don't.

Right now, I prefer to be self employed. transportation is not safe as it used to be, either you got robbed or the train malfunctioned.
