My husband, Vince, has been playing social golf with a group of friends for some years now. Lately we’ve been getting together once a month to share an evening meal. We are all pensioners and it became rather expensive to eat out so now we’re mostly meeting at one or other of our houses. On Saturday, someone is picking up and chips for us all and everyone is coming to our house. Some are bringing a salad and others something sweet. Everyone brings their own drinks so the cost is minimal for each couple.
We’re going to have a games night. The rest had something similar while we were away and all enjoyed it. One couple will bring a train dominoes game, we have Qwerkle and Ticket to Ride and I thought I’d get out the Jengo as well. There will only be ten or so at the most. I’m sure we’ll have a great time.

I love game nights! You will have fun for sure. It is always fun getting a group of people together in a social setting and enjoying good food and each other's company. It's even better when you can mix in some laughter and good times by playing games! Just watch out for that one person (every group has one) that is super competitive and takes the game way too seriously! haha

I hope that you have a great time. I have never heard of Querkle before, but I love jenga and dominos.

@Chantiele We won't play monopoly as it takes too long. It's not one of my favourite games but my husband loves it.

It's surprising those small bricks didn't fell. Is that a uno or domino game? I missed playing board games..

It's called Jengo or Tumbling Towers. The idea is to remove the pieces of wood from down low and place them on the top. If the tower topples over you lose. It's surprising sometimes how high you can build the tower. This one is balanced on only one piece of wood at the bottom.

Sounds exciting. I don't know what qwerkle is.
We used to play that game on your photo when we don't have something to do in the office. Is that a qwerkle?

That's pretty much the way we look at it although Vince insists that his way of sharing the driving is fair. He drives there and I drive home. If he has had enough he goes to sleep on the way and I can wander along in my own good time.

I've only just purchased Ticket to Ride but I really enjoy playing it. I just need a few more partners to play it with.

I wish we could have a group of friends to do that with. For me it has to be a group of people that don't drink. I really can't handle the drinking aspect of socializing, including my husband. We have all of those games you mentioned and many, many more. I have had a new game under the tree every Christmas. We usually just play with our daughters but finding time together is hard to come by now. Apples to Apples is a big favourite around here.

Sounds like fun, and definitely cheaper than going out to eat so frequently.

That's true and then someone has to drive home. I know we still have to drive home if it's not our home to host folks but we don't mind if they come here every time. We have a bit more room than some.
