Good morning. As we get older our reflect is not the same.
Some of us slow down etc. Many who count on their car and like to be able to drive themselves around.Self driving car should be a good deal for senior?
They can be lifesavers. They have self driving technologies .
I have not see the car yet.But I do believe that it would help senior drive.
avoid accident etc.I know many will feel uncomfortable.
This is becoming more of a reality.
What do you think.Self driving cars?
Many older car do not have the technologies in their car.
You should up grade as they have so many good features to keep you safe.

I'm still a bit skeptical about self-driving cars but as I get older I would probably have one as I certainly don't want to lose my independence. Right now I can still drive very well and I'd be lost without my car

Perfect for those who chose not to drive or feel they should not drive anymore.
Yes I think they will be good. Remember the "johnny cabs" in the old movie Total recall?

You know that is food for thought. I never thought about self driving cars and its application for Seniors, but you are right..that would be a great use of the technology. I know older people hate losing their license more than anything but having a self driving car would be an excellent way for them to maintain independence.

I never liked the idea, like @jaboUK I want to be in control. But having seen what happened to my father - isolated in a small village with no facilities at age 92 when his failing eyesight meant he was no longer allowed to drive (after more than 70 years - what a shock to the system!) and with me living almost 200 miles away - I think this technology would have been a lifeline for him, if it had been available - and affordable of course.

These self driving cars are a long ways from being out in the showrooms I think.
But there are many of the features that make them self driving in cars already.
The rear camera for example, that is one feature that has been out for years.
I do not trust it, I watched, in horror, as a driver backed out of their parking spot, relying only on that function of the car and not looking themselves, and he nearly ran over my husband who was walking over to return our cart. So, some features are good, but they cannot replace the sense of the driver completely.

If I have to, I'll put a saddle on one of my donkeys before driving 'one of those cars' @amadeo .

@amadeo Well, it's a small town of 3,000 people; although they would probably make me clean up the poo-poo.

That looks like our Florida car! lol Our new car at home can do everything but drive itself. A self driving car would be great for seniors and anyone else that has difficulty driving. However, for the price of one, it would be cheaper to call a cab, Uber, or hire a chauffeur.
Those self driving cars still have problems to be worked out. I'm waiting for the flying cars!

If self driving cars became reliable then It is a great option not only for seniors but for a lot of people including disabled ones.

I think it's a great idea. I don't know if I'll live long enough to have one, but I sure hope so.

I don't mind the idea of self driving cars. It's what might be hurtling towards the self driving car that would worry me. So many people drive like mad people these days and I hate being on the road. My dad is 83 and still drives but I've noticed his reflexes are slower than they used to be and if I'm in the passenger seat I notice hazards before him. If everyone has a self driving car that would suit me just fine and it would make everyone an equal on the road.
