In many places unpredictable rain keep taking place and at some places the Sun shines so brightly that you just cannot go outside without a cover. If it is cloudy or bright sun shine and you need to go out, do you prefer to carry your umbrella in your bag or along with you to protect yourself or you just do not care to carry it?

It is wiser on your part to keep an umbrella in your bag because you never know when the weather will turn adverse.

@dpk262006 It can help also in summer if it's too hot, to protect your head from the sun.

@Shivram59 - It is okay if you do not feel like carrying an umbrella just to protect you from sun rays. It depends how long you are required to remain outside, specially during summer months.

@Sreekala You are right, but they harm those who stay too long in the sun.I don't need to expose myself to Sun rays only for a few minutes.

If you do not require to walk on foot, then there is no need to carry an umbrella.

@Shavkat So there is a possibility that you are caught off guard, if you do not have an umbrella?

Yes, it is wiser on your part to save yourself in the scorching heat with the help of your umbrella. I think protection given by Umbrella helps you walk on the streets.

@magallon When you carry umbrella, there seems no justification walking without it on the streets.

Do you face lots of sunshine, when you are outside? or do you live at a place, where it rains very often?

Yes, you are right that during winters, the Sun is not so harsh and one can make do without carrying an umbrella. However, once the winter gets over and Sun starts shining in its full glory, it is better to carry an umbrella with us for our protection.

The weather in the UK is very unpredictable. It can start off bright and sunny and within hours it will be raining. I prefer to wear a coat with a hood rather than carry an umbrella.

@sprite1950 I more or less agree with you that smaller foldable umbrellas do not help, if it is very windy.

Even if the weather is unpredictable, you don't feel like carrying an umbrella. May be you feel that it is an extra burden, instead you prefer to wear a raincoat to protect yourself.

@dpk262006 You can get those fold up umbrellas which fit in a bag but they are hopeless in the wind.

I don't own an umbrella either. I just wear a hooded jacket if I think it's going to rain as I'm out and about.

It is better to be safe than feel sorry. You used to do the right thing during your Australian tour.
Don't you carry your umbrella here, when you go out?

If I am going to be outside and don't care if I get wet, I just get wet.. lol However, if I do care if I get wet, my handbag is not big enough to hold my umbrella, so I would carry it. By the way, I sent you a message, I hope you can help me with a member who also lived in India.

It is interesting to hear that you do not care about getting wet and you many a times do not carry your umbrella with you.
I have not received any message from you, could you please send it again.

@dpk262006 I change my answer. I still wouldn't carry an umbrella, but I will wear a poncho, a plastic cover. I did this Sunday when we went to the zoo and it poured at least 4-5 times and I had my phone on me as well as snacks in my backpack. So there are times I don't want to get wet..

@dpk262006 We are currently having continuous downpour so an umbrella is definitely essential. What your weather like?

Yes, if there is continuous downpour, it is wiser to always keep an umbrella. Here it is spring and there are no rains as such (here in New Delhi).

I usually have one small one in my bag and one spare one in car. Bangalore is unpredictable for rains and it rains anytime in the year.

It is safer rather than feeling sorry. It is wiser on your part to carry one small umbrella in your bag, as rains could take place anytime in Bangalore. The uncertainty of weather should not catch you unaware.

You carry it only in rainy weather, otherwise you make do without it. Most of the people do like it.

@Butterfingers Ok. If you go out of your home, you usually go on your bike and you invariably keep one umbrella in your bike. I think it helps in case of unexpected rain.
You are from which city?
