A rainbow of containers

We’ve been away for a while and we stayed with a friend in the seaside port of Fremantle near Perth, Western Australia. She has recently moved into a new apartment which is one of many created from an old wool stores building. Thousands of bales of wool were shipped from these premises in days gone by.
The building has now been converted into very nice apartments. To one side of her living area is one of the massive timber supports which held up the roof. The ceiling is still comprised of huge timber beams. Near the wool stores and paying homage to the port is this creation which looks like a heap of sea containers. I hadn’t seen this before and thought it was very attractive. Now I need to go answer some comments and read some posts.

the rainbow makes a great landmark.
it sounds like the houses have high ceilings.

@JudyEv i love high ceilings. i'm not at ease going to banks and offices with low ceilings because they have a mezzanine. i feel like there's something hanging above me.

@epiffanie In the springtime Kings Park is awash with wildflowers. Many have been cultivated from other regions.

They are brighter than this. I had to take it quickly through the car window so it's not as good as it could be.

Hearing of Perth & wool, I thought of how farmers made their money in the old time (from books I read). Are the rich families still living there do you think? (An ebay seller convinced me to read some Lucy Walker's books which she was selling at the time. I read and was a bit hooked about Perth Australia the old days. I told you, I am a bit obsessed about that city (and the wealthy people who might still be there .))

Certainly there are rich families living in Perth and other areas of Western Australia. Not too many become wealthy now because of wool prices but certainly they did once. Lucy Walker wrote a lot of books didn't she? I don't think I've ever read one of hers but looking at her bibiography she wrote a lot.

This apartment sounds like a good idea. And I like the gate, it is colorful and happy.

@JudyEv Yes, I think we should use these old buildings instead of let them go broke.

I understand what you are saying. Perhaps they are made of polystyrene and are very light!

Glad to see you back..a song Kermit the Frog sings about the rainbow connection leapt to mind when I saw that picture. It's neat, never saw something like that.

Yes, I can understand that that song would come to mind. It was very attractive in that particular setting.

It is only those with an eye for art would notice such things.

They're hard to miss as they are very big and very colourful.

Looks like boxes but if they are shipping containers must be a very massive display.

That is different for sure. People also make apartments from old factories here as well.

It seems a much better solution than leaving them derelict.
