Do you still use the clothesline?

I just finished my laundry. Some pieces I ran through the washing machine, others I handwashed. I just hang them in the clothesline outside to dry. The sun is hot and my laundry will dry in no time. Sometimes, I'd use the spin dryer if I need to but usually reserves it for the rainy season. I still prefer to line dry our clothes outdoors with the sun and air. How do you dry yours? Outdoors? Indoors?

Yep we use a line. Though I am not a big fan of it. Although it is healthier for the environment, I wear a lot of black clothing and also it gets so hot so it is not fun hanging them up outside and the we have an indoor rack but that can only hold so much.

Dryers are handy for people having no garden or living in cold places, but they are very bad for the environment. I never had one and do not intend to buy one.

@hereandthere I have a small drying rack indoors, and I dry a few clothes on the towel hang dryer/heater heating the bathroom during winter. I would be able to dry them as well in the garden, because there is a lean-to roof that was made for that long ago, but it can take a week to dry clothes outdoors in winter when it is raining.

we use the machine most of the time and spin-dry them, but still hang them out where it's sunny.

I also spin dry sometimes but today I just wrang the excess water by hand. They were light clothes anyways but for thick garments like jeans, towels or beddings, that would be hard and heavy hahaha I'd spin dry them even if its sunny.

@hereandthere oh yes, we used to have them washed in laundry shops because I find it laborous to do myself until I thought of just saving up instead of paying for laundry. At times, when I don't feel washing those heavy stuff myself or when its rainy that even spin drying doesn't help much, I'd still opt for laundry service.

@AKRao24 Thanks too! And the sun sure is the best disinfectant! Though I'm also cautious to leave clothes too long under the sun especially the colored ones, colors could fade easily if always overexposed. I'd sure to take them down immediately once they're dry.

If you have the space, it sure is better to dry clothes outside under the sun.

We are living in second floor so I put my cloths in the side area. Terrace is filled by other's cloth most of the time. Then it is too hot and I don't prefer to go up for this purpose. I only use terrace in winter time.

@pitsipeahie I use to do laundry in the laundry room downstairs when I lived in an apartment. That was years ago. I am one that will do laundry in the middle of the night if I cannot sleep.

Oh yes, whatever is most comfortable. There are other things to consider too aside from space and all. That is why some would also prefer to have their clothes washed in laudry shops.

I have a very physically demanding job so I am always tired so that makes me use the machine all the time. I can't live without my dryer.

I have never had a dryer, I dry the clothes in the garden. There is a lean-to roof that was made on one side of the garden more than a century ago to dry clothes without fearing the rain.

For traditional Filipinos, they still prefer to dry their clothes with the use of clotheslines. In big cities, they do have washing machines that will do everything.

@pitsipeahie I have a washing machine and a dryer next to it. I like the fact that I can do laundry any time day or night. Growing up my parents had both, washer and dryer and also a clothes line. I hated when the birds would fly over and poop.

It still is better to hang clothes outdoors to dry, sometimes if we let dry clothes indoors or if we did not hang them to dry at all, there's this moldy, kind of smell.
