Tearing my hair out

If I have a little less hair tonight, it's because I have been tearing it out all day. Every time I start working on something, the computer freezes. AVG, which used to be a great program but now is a total pain in the you-know-where, has been updating itself, and every time it does the computer becomes impossible to use. Not only have I lost at least 4 hours of work time today, but at one point when I left it to sort itself out while I went to do something else for a few minutes, I returned to find that it had decided to restart itself, thus losing what I had been working on (that it had frozen before I had a chance to save it.) AAAARRRRGGGHHH!

Why not try uninstalling the problematic software, yes I use to use AVG but it seems to be bloated and heavy on the system so I replaced it with a free version of Avast, might save you some hair

@lynnief try something else that you might like since the cause of all the problems is already pretty obvious. You may also try uninstalling and re-installing AVG, I really hope it works, I understand the frustration and what you are going through.

I understand how you feel. I have been working with a sick internet system for over a year now. because of it, what I would normally accomplish in 2 hours , takes me about 6 hours.

I can relate to that situation. For me, I am going to freak out. I hope it will be fixed soon.

That sounds super frustrating. Can you uninstall that avg program or do you need it?

AVG used to be good, but these days it is not needed. I know another person has been dealing with the same problem and he is resulting in just getting rid of it. Windows 10, man, good concept, gross more terrible with every update. I hope you can figure everything out!

I had trouble with that program about a decade or so ago. I got so mad at it that my husband had to jump in to help. (It was not that easy to uninstall that program. They made it so so that you had to cough out more money or else.)

Those antiviruses also consume a lot of space. I just prefer windows defender
