What do you prefer to do during a flight?

When I have to fly, I get nervous and stressed. I rarely manage to sleep on board a flight. Even if I fall asleep it's only for maximum half an hour or so. I am one of those people who likes to look outside at the clouds if it's daytime. The overnight long flights are the worst because I have to either listen to music or watch those in-flight movies. I am wondering how everyone feels about flying and what you do to keep busy. photo is mine

I mostly check out the scenery if it's daytime. Most airlines won't let you turn on your cell/smartphone and I get motion sickness if I read or do puzzles so I just look out the window or sleep.

@Starmaiden Good games, as long as you can see something it's good. The transoceanic flights are bad because all you can see is clouds.

@tzwrites During the night flights I like to play "Where am I?" I can't see anything but the city skylines below on the ground. According to how many cities are close together, I can geographically guess where we are flying over. I did this on my flight from Vancouver, Canada to Halifax, Canada. It was an 8 hr flight that took 12 hours. (An overnight flight with a 4 hour stopover in Toronto) I knew when we were flying over the Prairies because the city skylines are very clear and prominent.

I must be a rarity as I love flying the whole experience from planning the trip, researching the place I am visiting booking into the airport getting on board the plane the take off and landing are the most exciting parts of the flight. Once Airborne I browse through the films on offer have dinner settle down to watch the film have a drink and put the bed down and try to sleep. If I wake up early I will read or watch something else on the TV have breakfast and before you know it we are landing again!

@lnillerman Not all airlines. But then again there are some really obnoxious people who fly and are quite horrible not only to the crew but to the fellow passengers. These type of people deserve to be kicked off a flight.

I enjoy the eating part and the watching a movie but usually I find that I sit beside annoying people who keep disturbing the others the whole time or sitting beside small kids and babies.

I do like to look outside the window. I will sometimes read. If there's time, maybe watch a movie.

People watching is fun, there are always some people who disrupt the flight by either being noisy or walking around too much.

@tzwrites If it is daytime I love to watch clouds floating outside the window, and at night I read wildlife adventures until late I feel sleepy.

It's a good idea to read, it takes your mind away from the actual flight.

Since I didn't do that for many time, I have no clue if smartphones are allowed during flight? at least something to spend the time with :)

As long as they are on flight mode they are allowed. Some flights allow you to use wifi now but I haven't tried it yet.

It is not so difficult for me to kill the time during a flight. I will watch a movie, or I will play the game. Then I will get some sleep. After that, there will be a meal time. After the meal, I will start to watch a movie and play the game and get some sleep again. Soon I will arrive at the destination.

It's always good when there is good service for food, drinks and meals, it disrupts the monotony of the flight.

Our flights are usually short about 45 minutes only. But I take the time to read the planes' magazines. I haven't finished a whole magazine yet when the stewardess announces we will be in a touching down already. But if it is a very long flight like those traveling from abroad, which I haven't experienced, I will be playing on my phone or watching movies on the small TV in front of me.

I usually have a book of puzzles and a book to read. I find it hard to hear the dialogues on movies but sometimes I'll watch one as it takes up a couple of hours.

When I had my first flight, I feel very nervous because I was all alone. It was stressing because what if the plane will crash, that kind of feelings. During the flight, I was all awake until it lands.

I also felt nervous. I always feel nervous though, we see crashes on the news so it's normal to be afraid.

I always feel nervous and stressed, I wish I am like those persons that aren't afraid of flying. I usually watch the movies to help the time to pass.
