Yes I know the month is halfway over. October is National Apple Month. But October is also the same month we celebrate pizza in the USA so my attention has been focused elsewhere. Nevertheless, I can't just let the whole month go by and not say something about apples. I would like to say that for the longest time my favorite apple was Golden Delicious. Imagine! A red apple that's yellow and it tastes so sweet! It was a marvel to me. But then one day, I was at the grocery store shopping for my family and I saw Fuji apples on sale. Even though I had never tasted a Fuji apple, the sale price made them irresistible. So I bought a bag and took the home. I had no idea what I had been missing all my life. Golden Delicious now had to share its 1st Place space for My Favorite Apples with Fuji Apples. My husband likes McIntosh. Eh! They're OK. I like them when they're used to make candy apples. What's your favorite apple variety? Fun Fact: Did you know there are 4 apple varieties that start with the letter Z; 10 that start with the letter Y; but none that start with the letter X?
For apple, pear, plum, cherry and orchard fruit enthusiasts - tasting notes, fruit identification, flavors, and relationships of hundreds varieties.

@cmoneyspinner Bramleys from the county of Armagh from me. I have a tree of them in my garden and today I made spiced apple juice from them. Just perfect.

My top favorite is Honey Crisp, especially when my wife turns them into chunky apple sauce with no sugar added and just a touch of cinnamon.

My mom loved Granny Smith apples. I'm not into apples. Biting into them gives me goosebumps.

I've had both those varieties, and I like both of them as well. I haven't had an apple I don't like yet.

Most of the time I stick with Royal Gala, but at this time of the year we start to get Russet. A slightly unusual taste, but I like it

All are good but we prefer not to have the green ones of any sort unless we are juicing and can hide the taste!

I have not had apples in a long time. I used to like McIntosh and Granny Smith for making pies. Thank you for the link I will have a look at it.

My favorite would be the Royal Gala apple. It's small and crisp and sweet. My kids love them as snack.
