Pretty sunset tonight!

I was driving West (I won't say where from) this evening as the sun was setting. I noticed several layers of clouds were present in front of me, leading to a pretty sunset, with lots of red and orange.
It occurred to me that my best sunset photo is from either late December or early January, and made me wonder if Winter is particularly good for pretty sunsets in Northern California.
The attached photo was taken (by me) on a hike at Inspiration Point, in the Berkeley hills. Tonight's sunset (I did not have my camera with me and was driving) did not match this one, but it had similar hues.
Have you noticed differences between Winter and Summer sunsets? It's something I hadn't thought much about. For the record, I checked my clock as I was watching. The time was 5:23.

That is an amazing sunset. I used to take photos of sunrises and sunsets from my windows in Latvia. Here is one amazing winter sunset after a day that was gray and bland but just as the sun was setting everything turned to colors.

The last sunset I took was in autumn. There were purple and blueish hues. I've never wondered if the sunsets changed with the season or when the prettiest sunsets occur. Something to think about or we can all take sunset photos and compare!

We are spared from buying expensive cameras ..the smog covers the sun most of the time..my sunrise is good..but it occurs near Hotel Hyatt, which starts some cooking around that time releasing the smoke...as to sunset...I already told you...pollution hides it all. If not pollution the clouds...

@vandana7
Is your house near Hotel Hyatt?
May be you could invite Horse and Sojourner for a dinner there?

That is a beautiful sunset. What bridge is that in the background? Not the Golden Gate???

That is a beautiful sunset. I think all west coast sunsets are beautiful because of the mountains/volcanoes. Vancouver sunsets are to die for.

@CarolDM I believe the picture atop this post was taken on December 27, right after the shortest day of the year. As the months progress. the sun sets further "to the North." So there's a brief window where I can catch it setting "right over the Golden Gate Bridge."

Really terrific shot there! You can even pick out the bridge span in the background. I've never thought about different seasonal sunsets? You've got me thinking about it for sure
