A true love story

Please read the following story which I got from a news letter. This may be true or may be false. But sure leave space for us to think about.
“It was a busy morning, approximately 8.30 am, when an elderly gentleman in his 80’s arrived to have stitches removed from his thumb. He stated that he was in a hurry as he had an appointment at 9.00 am. I took his vitals and had him take a seat knowing it would be over an hour before someone would be able to see him. I saw him looking at his watch and decided, since I was not busy, I would evaluate his wound. On examination it was well healed so I started removing his sutures and redress his wound. While taking care of his wound, we began conversation and I asked him why he was in such a hurry. The gentleman said that he needed to go to the nursing home to eat breakfast with his wife. I then inquired as to her health. He told me that she had been there for a while and that she was a victim of Alzheimer disease. Then after finishing, I asked if she would be worried if he was a bit late. He replied that she no longer knew who he was that she had not recognized him in five years now. I was surprised and asked him “You still go every morning, even though she doesn’t know who you are?” He smiled as he patted my hand and said, “She doesn’t know me, but I still know who she is”.
I had to hold back tears as he left, I had goose bumps on my arm and thought “That is the kind of love I want in my life”.”

Thanks. I have found my love and am happy bout it. You are a very lucky kid to have such loving parents. My parents do love each other but they dont hold hands or anything. They never show their love. I wish you'd find the true love that you so deserve. Thanks for responding.

I have read a similar story in one of the newspaper and I too long fo this kind of love. My parents are now married for over 23 years and they still love each other very much. They sometimes romance before us as if they are still teens and I just can see the love in their eyes. I want that kind of relationship and nI am prepared to wait till I find that kind of a man.

that is really sweet...and ya know, that's the kind of love i want in my life too. i always wonder though if its really real. you always hear these stories and watch movies like "the notebook" when a love like that seems so incredibly real and amazing, but then i wonder if it will ever happen to me. i want to feel love and be loved in the way that people only dream about.

Oh sherinek. This is one of the most heart-warming stories I have ever heard. I felt the same way the first time I read this story, many years ago. I don't think anything else could describe pure love in any better words. This is the kind of love my husband and I have together. It is very comforting; especially after reading your story and then thinking about him.

That is so sweet I got goose bumps while reading it. How wonderful to have a husband like that... It reminds me of the movie 50 first dates with Adam Sandler and Drew Barrymore, I thought that was a beautiful love story.

That is beautiful, he loves her no matter what and even though he goes each and every single day and she does not know who he is he continues to go because although she does not remember, he still does and he still loves her. That is absolutely just too sweet.

I was sad to read that you cant win your love. Give her time. Or may be just say it to her. If you keep it in your heart you'll be miserable by day. Say it and finish it off. But you have to risk the fact that she might let you down. But still you are clear on that. This is how I feel. Good luck and have a nice day.

Very very Sweet, and I do know that I have met Men in Nursing homes who have loved ones with this disease who do this. It is comforting knowing that people good people will always have someone there even if they do not know who they are at the moment. Their Spirit will know and appreciate it.... I hope to some day at least have friends like this. So far some of my friends are offended if I do not rememeber them, parts of my memory are alright other parts do not work right here and there.... due to surviving lightning strike, so it comes and goes. Well Take care, and Thank you for sharing such a heart warming story :) - DNatureofDTrain.

Thanks for your kind words. I have many enjoyments in life, yes I struggle with many health issues, but I know that I am very lucky, as what I deal with is minor compared to others, even if I do seem to be a living lightning rod. :) .. Take care, and never lose your warm heart. I do enjoy life, it is a blessing. - DNatureofDTrain
