Do you sleep with lights off?

When I visited my sister, I could not sleep. Not because of anything but because of the lights. They lights in the the dining room along with the rooms were all on. I shared the room then with my niece and according to her, she could not sleep with lights off. I wanted to cry because I wanted my dark room when I went to bed. That was the last time I slept in their house. lol What about you?

No dark room is good since lights distracts me a night during sleep and can cause too much warmth.

No, I leave the light on so I know if the power goes out.

@cacay1 I'm not used to the dim light it will hurt my eyes. If it's dark, it's even easier for me to sleep.

Me too I can sleep much better with lights off. I think that they are part of our biological function that when resting we should put our lights off to trigger our body to sleep mode.

@Janet357 @rsa101 is right, our body need the "dark signal" to know that it's time to rest. It is in our genes from the ancient times, when primitive humans worked when there was light outside and when to sleep when the dark came.

@cacay1 I know that dark is important for a good rest and for the brain to recover and rebuild its cells. I wanted total darkness when I was young. Now I can stand a dim light coming inside when we have a full moon, but it must be really a very dim light.

Oh I can relate with you! I cant sleep without my dark room. It must be difficult to you to sleep in that condition. But I appreciate you to bare with it for your niece. I usually will cover my body or at least my head with blanket or pillow if I must share room with someone who cant sleep with light off. Maybe you can do this, or perhaps did you already do this? Hahaha Anyway have I nice day!

Sometimes I fall asleep while the light in my headboard is still turned on. *shrug* I just forget to turn it off before falling asleep. The only other light in the house is the one in the hallway between my bedroom, Pretty's bedroom and the bathroom at the end of the hall. (We had to put a nightlight in the hallway not long after we moved into this house. We had a mirror on the wall by the bathroom door. I woke up one night and went to the bathroom. I saw someone moving in the hall... thinking someone had broken into the house I punched him. *sigh* I cut my hand on the broken glass and we installed a nightlight.)

That is the problem when we stay away from our own comfortable home. Especially after this pandemic we don't travel neither do others stay with us.

@Janet357 We dont turn on the lights during daytime. But at night I tend doze off especially when tired or stressed. I would tell myself I will just lie down in bed and then wake up and its morning LOL.

I can manage to sleep with bright lights on and lights off. But I always prefer off. It's either I sleep with a small glow of light from LED or totally dark.

i guess you're kinda spoiled haha i sleep with lights off, but when i'm in dorm i share the room with my roommate and sometimes she stays up all night doing something for college and she keeps the light on - i still manage to fall asleep. i used to be bothered by the parties people have in my dorm, but now not even that bothers me.

I cannot sleep with any light on, even the streetlights outside are enough to keep me awake. I would have wanted to cry too in your situation.
