Cleaning when someone is about to visit.

Okay I know that I should be cleaning all the little nooks and crannies in my house on a regular basis but isn't it odd how you notice all the grime and fluff when someone is coming to visit.
My plumber is coming this week and I know he will be working around the radiators and skirting boards so I am having a mass clean. I'm pulling out loads of fluff (which has probably been there months) that I never noticed before but at least I won't be red-faced when he has to get behind them. Where does all that fluff come from?!
Do you have an extra thorough clean when people are about to visit?

@LadyDuck I'm sure my plumber will have seen much worse houses than mine but I don't want him to think I am dirty.

Haha yes there is plenty of fluff and it likes to hide and then come out when people visit!

@nela13 Yes where does it all come from! I just bought myself a cordless vacuum cleaner and it is wonderful. So light and easy to use. Gets rid of most of my fluff, it's just the hard to reach places that gather dust.

Well I've had covid and so did my granddaughter who lives with me so I'm not worried about catching it again so soon as it was only in September.

@Shavkat Yes and I had a booster today so I am well protected now. My arm is a bit sore though.

@sprite1950 Hey. No worries. I always enjoy seeing you pop back in here from time to time. Even saw you over at Noise, but seems you have been away from that for a spell too. Glad you found me, or I found you...whichever. lol

@porwest Yes I was at Noise for a while but I don't really like cryptocurrency.so didn't stay long. People are saying MyLot has been quiet since Noise became popular.

I am obsessed with cleanliness and organization. So I have a cleaning cycle.. daily cleaning, weekly cleaning, monthly and some decluttering every three months. But still I have extra thorough cleaning when I am expecting guests or when I host a party or get together.

@sprite1950 We don't need to be like each other. We are all good in our ways. My obsession with cleaning sometimes becomes a problem. I am trying to reduce it.

I decided when I moved to this new place that I was going to budget for a regular cleaning service.
It really is quite reasonable and I know things are getting done on a regular basis - they will do things like ovens, insides of fridges, atop cupboards.
I was passing by one of the ladies while she was working and was pleased to notice her dusting the door jambs.
Of course, cleaning is never really 'done' , and I still have to keep up my own cleaning, but I love to have someone coming in on a regular basis to get things I might miss.

I would love that too although I don't mind cleaning. I'm not ocd about it as I live with a messy 15 year old but I keep it up together.

I would not bother if it was just a plumber visiting. But yes if I am expecting guests the first thing I would do is to put law and order on my dining table which is always cluttered (lol)

I noticed how dirty my skirting boards looked and there was fluff under the radiators so now they are all sparkling! If I'm honest I should do them on a regular basis but as I can't see them when I walk about I tend to forget.

@sprite1950 One always ought to clean when expecting the plumber. Plumbers talk when they get together of an evening and compare notes on the cleanliness of their clients: “You should see what she keeps behind her toilet at number 56 - filthy hussy”.

If you don't want visitors just carry a coat when you answer the door and pretend you were just going out

I guess it means our houses are really clean if we get visitors. It's surprising how quickly I can whiz round the house when I know someone is coming

@t100068 Yes same for me. I know I should be cleaning thoroughly every day but I get fewer visitors since the pandemic so I don't worry as much.

@sprite1950 I can relate to that when someone is coming over, I’m a lot faster with cleaning. Otherwise, I clean at a normal pace.

I try to at the very least have a clean kitchen and bathroom, the laundry caught up, and the bed made when it is apartment inspection time. I'm very cluttery. But I started working on that these past few days.

Yes I do spend time every day on the kitchen and bathroom but tend to forget behind the radiators. The fluff was awful!

I don't very often but I noticed fluff behind my radiators and thought they were well overdue for a clean.
