Colors of a room. Which do you prefer?

I am trying to repaint some of the rooms in my house. I hear about using different colors to set moods in a room. What colors make you feel better or worse in a room? Are you truly affected by the colors of a room? What colors would you paint each room of your house and why?

I'm not affected by the color of the rooms. People just made that up, or I could be that kind of person who doesn't care as much. If I have to paint my room any color I want, I'll go for blue because it makes me happy and it's my favorite color.

if you are not affected by the color of the rooms how can you make the statement blue because it makes you happy? Would that mean if you walked into a blue room you would be happier or not? I am going to paint in a color I want as well. I just like to weigh my options. I surely wouldn't want to buy all this paint and decide I don't like it after all.

After being an apartment dweller for a number of years 16 months ago I bought my first house. In our apartment evey wall was either white or beige and we were not allowed to make any color changes, so you know we went craxy with the paint when we got our house!Every room is a different color! From melon in the kitchen to friendly frog green in the bed room the house is full of color, everyone that sees it says our house looks so cheerful they don't want to leave!

congratulations on the new home. I know what you mean about having colors on the wall. I want so many colors it's hard to chose. I do want my guests to feel comfortable. Thanks for the advice.

The ceiling of the entire house shall be pure white. The bathrooms will have cladding with tiles and so also kitchen. The living room can be yellow ochre or beize. Children room should have lemon yellow on one side wall, dark green and red on other two sides and pink on one side to have a contrast. Ceiling: white, Bed rooms should have ceiling: white, any light colour (cream colour)on all the walls. External can be Yellow ochre (top portion) and brown (lower portion)

guess you are pretty set on your color scheme. Thanks for being so descriptive. Why do you choose light colors for the bedroom? and you don't reccomend painting the ceilings? Would you say these colors are good for resale values as well?

I love when people take the color from the walls all the way up to the ceiling! It makes a room feel cozy and together. It's great for a huge room too... it makes it feel less open.

I think you should paint the living room or the dining room a dark color of red because it looks elegant, thats how my mom has it and its really pretty. I guess the family room if you have one should be a light color of peach its vibrant and lights up the room. Your bedrooms a light color of yellow, cause it lights up your day and its brighter when the sun shows in.

Thanks for the advice. I have a very open house and not quite sure red would be the right color for the living room area. I don't think it would match up with other colors. I have a light peachy pink color in the formal living room. My bedroom is a shade of green. Wouldn't a yellow keep you up at night. I heard if you wanted to keep the quest away to paint a room yellow. I guess you don't think this would be true? Thanks for the advice. It is always hardest to find the right color over the work painting intales.

My Mom used a maroonish red and it's very warm and rich. I thought I'd hate red on the walls but the shade she used is elegant and inviting!

I like Blue. blue is such a pretty color. Apparently it makes you happy too. I mean a dark blue might seem kind of sad but I like a regular color blue or a light blue. Green is nice too but in a darker shade. I think I will make my bedroom green and gold, they look nice togther.

and what about the hot pink? Or is that just at Momma's house? I could handle the green just not so kene on the gold. I can handle blue but not for a bedroom. I would like it in the bathroom or dining room. It brightens up the rooms I think.

We are living in a rental house right now so we really havn't painted too much. My son has a blue room and I love it. It is a medium blue, not too light and not too dark. My daughters room is a pinkish purple and I hate it. I think that it is a gross color and I never would have chosen it. I'm hoping she will let me repaint it soon. I mostly like light colors. I just don't like the feel of a really dark colored room. Colors I have chosen for our rooms are a light blue in the bathroom, yellow in the kitchen and green in my bedroom.

I totaly understand. My daughter is painting her room a hot pink. I will be able to close off her room but she will be happy with it. For another year anyway. I am with you on dark rooms but I keep hearing darker rooms are more relaxing. Does anyone find this to be true? I tried a blue in the kids bathroom. More like a sky blue and everyone hated it. It was a sunshine yellow before that.

I think you should go to the paint store and try on your wall the little paint card before trying something color his nice but after long time may affect your patience .......

That is exactly the reason I am repainting. The colors just don't seem the same once they are on the wall. Thanks though, I will keep searching and hope it will work this time.

i would recommend that you use pastel colors. don't use dark colors especially red, i read in some books that red colos in a room would cause " heated" arguments between those people living in the house.
