Empty streets in the rain.

I’m glad not to be in Paris tonight. It’s August and it’s hot, too bright and clogged with holiday makers doing Paris, picking over her as is if she were a bundle of second hand clothes for sale on the Salvation Army counter.
November’s a different matter. Now if it were November with the sun hanging low in the cold air at the end of a chatterbox afternoon and leaves blowing along the gravel paths of the Luxembourg gardens, then I’m there ahead of you even if it rains. Especially if it were to rain.
Aperitif at Café Cascades at Porte Dorée after a walk in Bois de Vincennes then dinner on down Avenue Daumesnil at Bistrot Tramway. I’ll get emotional on the way home and I’ll sit up all night just staring out at wet empty streets and wonder why it can’t stay that way forever. I’m a bit of a mess tonight. Can you tell?

This is called nostalgia. I never liked Paris during summer, but during autumn it's a beautiful city.
Yesterday I could not stop thinking to Milan, but MY Milan in the 50s until mid 60s, when it was a beautiful clean city with old style cafés and NO fast food. I would love to go back in time at least one day every year.
