Out of Black Pepper.

Well, it looks like I forget to keep a spare of black pepper in the house and now I've run out completely. I do have white pepper and cayenne pepper and assorted other condiments and seasonings but I find the black pepper is something I nearly always reach for.
It's interesting because when I was growing up we only had white pepper in the house and I don't recall seeing black pepper anywhere until the 1980s - it was probably there but we didn't use it.
What are your go to spices and seasonings? Do you use a lot of black pepper.

@karenanne I wouldn’t know how to cook without black pepper. I too grew up on the awful finely ground white pepper that was forever in my nose.

@KarenAnne I do like black pepper on my strawberries along with a dash of balsamico.

@xFiacre Although I use black pepper on just about everything I cook, using it on strawberries is a new one on me. Dale does put black pepper and salt on cantaloupe.

I agree with Fiacre. I couldn't cook without black pepper.

I'm finding it interesting to work around until I go shopping on Friday!

I don't use black pepper often but it's always there if I need it. I've never used or even seen white pepper.

@DaddyEvil It was probably just his opinion. I remember my aunt telling my mom all about it and how she should switch to white pepper.

@kareng If black pepper doesn't digest, it just leaves the body. I'm not searching to see if I digested it.

I like black pepper, but I have never put pepper on fruit. I don't even want to try it, maybe it's good but just isn't something I want to eat together.
White pepper is good, it's milder, for sure. I always have both types handy, but I don't use a ton of either one. To me, there is a fine line of enough, and too much where pepper is concerned.

I think I have always rather classed pepper as belonging next to salt. Most people here do, it seems. But pepper on fruit, even though I like a lot of different foods and seasonings, just somehow doesn't appeal to me. But everyone is different, we all like different spices and flavorings.
