Green gram is good for the heart as it contains loads of potassium.
We have different ways in which we cook green gram Today it was sweet green gram. It was soaked over night and cooked adding jaggery and coconut. A touch of cardamom gives it a nice aroma.
We also cook sprouted green gram. This again has several health properties.

What is gram..I have heard of it but never had it..I'll go look as my son is gravely ill and is potassium deprived.
Oh I see chick peas we call them.
That reminds me I must get some white beans for potassium.

Chick peas are different but these are what you see in the photo. As long as your son's kidneys are fine green grams are extremely good for him.

@allknowing This is a medical term.
In the concept of traditional Chinese medicine, if a person's body is very uncomfortable, such as ulcers in the mouth, nosebleeds, molting on the body, and other phenomena occur, traditional Chinese medicine believes that the person is on fire and needs to eat some food that can reduce the heat, among which mung beans have a good effect.
By the way, mung beans originated in India and were very popular after being introduced to China.

I mostly use them for dosa with loads of veggies or tadka daal..We use the sprouted ones in our salad. I enjoy the sprouted ones with cucumber, radish, carrot, coriander leaves, rock salt and lime juice

The raw sprouted green gram has the most nutrients. I must start eating them that way

@allknowing Somehow raw things don't go well with me any more. I would steam them a bit.

Tender coconut water is poison if you have issues with potassium.

We call those green grans "mung beans" here on our side of Asia. I just mung bean stew for lunch. We also love to eat the sprouts. Good to know they're rich in potassium.
