Chasing down parentage with DNA

Australia’s nearest neighbour is Indonesia with its hundreds of resorts and hotels. Prices are cheap; air-fares relatively so compared to Europe and cashed-up Australian men find it easy to pay for sexual favours. Some might set up mistresses there depending on their circumstances. Other nearby countries also appeal to Westerners for these same reasons.
All this results in a lot of pregnancies where the father is unknown or uncontactable. The resulting children are often brought up under very poor circumstances with few opportunities as regards education and health care.
However, errant fathers are now being chased down through DNA and ‘encouraged’ to provide support for their progeny. I can only imagine there are a few men out there not sleeping so well at night now.

DNA is now helping people get what rightfully is theirs now. Only a few years ago men had all the fun and women were left to provide as they could for their children. Now even Royalty have had to accept their children out of wedlock.

That's very true. DNA has made quite a lot of changes in the world.

DNA testing is helpful in so many ways. I didn't know this about Indonesia. Have a good weekend.

I wonder how they identify men who may be errant fathers.

It sounds like a good use for the DNA findings.

I think so too. Some guys go there every year and don't even attempt to hide that they're going to bars to pick up girls. There are plenty of pimps over there too so the guilt shouldn't all be on the Australians I guess.

Good hope some people who had fun and went on the run will now be held accountable.

They will have to first short list likely 'candidates' and I wonder how that will be done

From what I know they cross-reference the DNA with all sorts of files. In some cases, the name of the father is known or is matched to hotel registers, airline passenger lists, etc.

Hey, I know this is important but if the guy has to be chased down I would think once found he could just cause a lot of unnecessary problems and who needs that,

Yes. I'm sure there are although we might be surprised how many illegitimate children are born each year.

I wondered that but apparently they are finding some of the men. Some of the women know names; there are hotel registeries, airline records, Visa records. It seems to be happening.
