I’m not decrepit, just 66.

I feel so old. I looked around at the crowd sitting on the terraces of the cafes around Place de La Contrescarpe as we drank and listened to live jazz well into the evening and then some more, and there was not a person there of my own generation. Most were in their 20s / 30s, and some were young enough to be my grandchildren. It really was quite astonishing. And many of them looked at me as if they were wondering why I wasn’t tucked up in bed with a cup of cocoa. I’M ONLY 66 PEOPLE.

@judyev I’ve just been thinking about how invisible a person can be as one ages after my experience tonight. Is that how I treated “old” people when I was in my 20s?

@xFiacre I thnk I probably did to some degree but you can't explain to younger people. I remember telling a niece to take care of her back and not to do the over-heavy lifting but I don't think she took any notice.

Young people can never understand how people our age feel. They think old people are can no longer function in this world, I suggest you arrange for a street musician and show them a song and dance number,

You’re only 66, still young at heart! Enjoy the music and don’t worry about what others think. Age is just a number!

Who cares what the younger generation thinks. Enjoy your life and have a good time when you go somewhere.

It’s wild how different generations can make you feel like a relic sometimes. But hey, you're 66 and still enjoying life—definitely not time for cocoa just yet!

NO, you are not old, at 66 you are still young. I remember when I was 20 and I thought that those in their 40s were OLD.

I recall one banker who told me - you sounded younger on the phone! I asked him - Is it a compliment?
