More news about Vince

Vince, my husband, had surgery today for a lesion on the lung. The doctor rang at 11am to say the lesion was a low-grade cancer and he had taken out the lymph nodes and more of the lung. So at least it’s all over with the one operation. Vince rang about 2pm but hadn’t seen the doctor at that point. He didn’t know the lump was malignant. I will go to see him this evening. No doubt, he’ll still be a bit groggy but that’s okay. It’s good to have this over and done with. I am staying a couple of nights with my sister-in-law. This afternoon, her husband took me to a massive ‘book barn’ where the books are all very cheap. It really is the size of a big barn and must have thousands of books, DVD, CDs, etc. I picked up three books which will make great presents for my sister come Christmas. The photo shows Vince on a swing at one of our camping sites.

That is good that the doctor removed everything. He needs to rest and give time to his body to heal.

I am glad he had a good doctor who performed surgery before it spreads to other organs. Tell him to take it easy and to rest. You can relax now Judy.

I’m so glad they got it all. It sounds like the absolute best outcome was had considering it was malignant. I’ll keep praying for his recovery.

@JudyEv I know it's very worrying when someone we love has to have surgery. Hang in there, I'm glad you have a good place to stay while he is in the hospital.

I'm sorry to know that and hope that he recovers well. If the cancer has not spread to other organs, he should be fine.

Hopefully it hasn't spread and it's quite small so they should have been able to remove it all.

Thanks. Just waiting now to see if it's a secondary cancer which the doctor wouldn't rule out.

He knows it was malignant and now we're waiting for the test results to see if it is the primary cancer or a secondary one. We have good doctors so, while we're a bit worried, we also know he will be well taken care of.

It was only small so it's all gone now. But the question remains if it was a primary site or a secondary one. We'll know in a fortnight.

It is such a blessing that the doctor had the foresight to biopsy it and then complete the surgery with the removal of what he needed to. It must be much easier on Vince's body and his nerves to go under just once. Now the surgery is over and you, who are the super nurse-wife, will help him return to his strong self, or at least strong enough to swing carefree like he is in the photo. It is good that you were able to spend some time looking through the book barn, something for you is very important.

Thanks very much, Vicki. It was a slow-growing cancer and we're waiting for test results to hopefully say it''s the primary one and not a secondary cancer.

He's sort of okay but obviously it will take a while. His BP has been too low and he's had trouble swallowing and keeping food down. But he's cheery enough.

The only downside is that it will be a fortnight before we learn if this was a primary or secondary cancer. We're thinking primary as it was slow-growing and very small.
