Crazy people part two. / myLot

One night at work a teen came in with her baby in a stroller. She put a pack of diapers and a big pack of wipes under the stroller. Than she though she could just walk out with them. When the cashier told her she had to pay for them. She ran out the door with out the stroller leaving the diapers, wipes and her baby behind. The cashier wanted to call the police for them to take the baby. I told her NO. Someone will call or be back for the baby. A few minutes later the Grandmother called and asked if she could come get the baby. The Grandmother came and paid for the diapers and wipes and took the baby with her. She was really mad at her daughter she had given her the money to buy the diapers and wipes. But her daughter wanted to get junk food and make up with the money instead.

Good grief. That’s pathetic. I hope that grandmother didn’t depend on the daughter anymore since she was willing to put the baby in harm’s way.

@jstory07 I hope so. Sadly, calling CPS would have been better and then the grandmother could legally receive guardianship to make sure.

That young girl isn't responsible enough to be a mother. I feel really sorry for the girl's mother.

Addiction is not a pretty thing- food addiction is very real. Immaturity is, too. I hope that the baby was cared for by at least Grandma.

She was still a youngster herself. Doesn't excuse it and it leaves a lot of other people to pick up the pieces

I guess she thought the police might arrest her for shoplifting. If not for the grandmother, child protective services might have been notified. So many other unanswered questions there.
