The garlic I planted a few weeks ago is poking its nose up through the soil I noticed today. By July I should be able to harvest enough bulbs to see me through next autumn and into winter. I hope we do get some hard frost over Christmas - they seem to thrive after that.
However all was not well for me today. Against my better judgement I went with my wife and daughter for Christmas dinner to a cheap eatery and it was foul. I normally eschew such things because they are generally most substandard.
The roast potatoes were dry and hard, the turkey bland, the cranberry sauce was sugary sweet and the carrots undercooked. The Brussels sprouts seemed to have been cooked in soapy dish water and the gravy was thin and over-salted.
I didn’t risk dessert or coffee and went elsewhere to rinse my mouth out with ice cream.
Sorry for being such a complainer. The harassed waitress was lovely. We had intended having lunch at the Japanese restaurant next door but it was closed. Now my digestive tract is suffering tribulation.

I am Going to do it My Marine Brethern from Dublin taught me how to talk this way. First a bit of snobbery from the Irish, he world not approve, second is he would tell me to tell a bad joke if you met a true Irish. Roasted Potatoes. Black Plague, thats pretty easy but Potatoes still good if there is no black plague and cooked right. Some times have to go off the skiff.
