To go or not to go

We received a pamphlet in the mail from Bunbury Regional Entertainment Centre. After a break of several years, they are running an international film festival. We’d like to attend but we’d have to make some decisions. If we take the motor-home we would have our own accommodation and could get our own meals. But it’s holiday season and it might be hard to find somewhere to stay AND it’s a big vehicle to park in the city while we’re at the movies. If we stay within walking distance of the cinema, we’d have to buy all our meals. However we do it, we probably wouldn't want to be away too many days. There are twelve films. Each is shown at least twice with two to four showings each day. Over the course of two days, we could potentially watch eight films. I think another question to be considered is the number of films you could watch in a day without them all blurring. How about you? How many films do you think you could watch in a day and still stay sane? The photo is of some artwork at the Centre.

Maximum of three movies in a day for me.

I think that would probably be about the limit.

Three films would be my limit. I remember watching double features back in the 60s without a problem. Whatever you decide, I hope you have a good time. Have a great day.

I think three would be enough. Just today I was thinking the movies of my childhood. I might write about them.

If I have all the time, I might have three or four movies.

Three films in a day would be my limit... And I'd have to really be interested in them to watch that many at once. Whatever you choose, I hope you have a wonderful time.

I'm hoping we can come up with a way of watching most of the films without wearing ourselves out.

The Bunbury International Film Festival sounds fantastic! I would limit myself to two films a day to fully enjoy each one without feeling overwhelmed. Your motor-home plan sounds practical but challenging during holiday season.

Watching too many films in a day wouldn't really be a good idea. We'll do a bit more thinking about it.

That would be a fun little trip! Can you call in advance and find out about a place to park the RV close by? I would only be able to handle 2 or 3 films per day.

@JudyEv After the first day, you will know if that will work and can cut back to 2. Easier to cut back than add probably, especially if you have to buy tickets in advance. Or is this a one price deal and you view as many as you want?

@kareng It's a bit cheaper if you buy a book for tickets for, I think, five movies.

We're working on the logistics now. I'm thinking 3 movies max would be okay.

Even sitting in the comforts of my home I hardly watch movies. I lose patience easily. So what is your decision?

Three a day max. Now we're working out which week to go. The movies are over January.

I think that with breaks in between watching shows I would be able to watch 2 or 3. No more than 3 or they would blur and it would seem like 'work' to get them all watched. It should be an enjoyable time.

sounds like such a fantastic experience! Bringing the motor-home would give you more flexibility and comfort, but you’re right about the challenges of parking and the holiday season hustle.

@moffittjc He is fine thanks. Gets a bit breathless if he over-exerts himself but doesn't have to go back to the doctor until his regular 3-month check. Thanks for asking.

Two would be ideal but it depends a bit on how long we want to stay as there are no movies Mondays and Tuesdays. But we'll work something out.

I think you should go for it if you are not having better holiday plans. I have watched three movies a day and remained sane. After third movie , you could get exhausted. However, you could have a look at trailers and decide if you want to go for it or not. If you are movie buffs , then four movies a day should not be a problem. It is like watchcung a movie for breakfast , lunch , tea time and dinner. If I would be in your place , had the time and money , definitely would have gone for it and experienced the fun. After all , experiences is what we love to have in life. Enjoy the time

We've always enjoyed international films. They can be quite different to what we're used and more enjoyable because of that.

@judyev I have watched three a day when there was a Bollywood season at a little arthouse cinema but I don't think I could manage that now. I don't like to sit for too long.

We're planning on three a day at the most. There are twelve films but we might have to miss a couple. Some days there are only two showing.

depends on the movies. i think i could watch movies that are connected - like John Wick 1,2,3,&4 or Hangover or Before sunrise trilogy and stuff like that. i think i watched 3 different and not connected movies in a day and that was okay. i never tested my limits when it comes to that i hope you figure out the best way to go there and have fun
