Hubby Got a Haircut Today

The big event today was hubby went to his appointment for a haircut this afternoon. He has not had a haircut since right after Covid. So his hair was getting pretty long. He decided to go to the new salon in town that opened up just a couple of months ago. It is very nice and has a small boutique attached to it with an adjoining door. The reason he didn't get go get another hair cut is he was on a streak where the stylist didn't listen to what he wanted done and he wasn't happy with the cut. When it is cut super short, there is no "fixing" it, so he just decided to let it be and go natural. He really liked the way this young lady cut his hair today and it looks really good. I will be making an appointment for myself after Christmas. I just need to figure out how short I want to go and what style I want. We came home and I took him up on his offer to help me wrap gifts. So that is what I've been up to this afternoon. How often do you get your hair cut? Photo Credit: Pixabay, Public Domain

I usually average about every three month's or so. I like to make sure I get my money's worth. I keep saying I will go more often since I like my hair shorter, but I hardly ever do that. lol

Yep, that is a nice time frame. My husband was in law enforcement and had to have short, short hair above collar and ears showing. It was awful. This is the first cut where he didn't go above or around the ear. When I would trim his hair that was always his complaint that I didn't do it right around his ear.

Knowing how well you like to manage your finances, I’m surprised you don’t cut your own hair!

@kareng As infrequently as possible. In my small town they only do one haircut for men and no matter what you ask them for you get that one haircut. I hate haircuts anyway. I’d rather go to the dentist.

@porwest He gave up on the only barber shop here because they never answer the phone and also are never open when he needed a haircut. The owner is now retired and closes the shop whenever he feels like it. I think the new salon and the other shop that opened a couple of years ago have about taken all of his business away. But you have to be open to make money and have customers!

Here's some extra cha-ching for you. I cut my hair twice a year. Depending on how long it gets. Without fail, I do it at the begining of spring/summer.

I haven't cut mine since his last cut. We went at the same time. I have cut my own before too, but going to see what this lady can come up with. She comes highly recommended and has to be better than the other lady we used to go to.

My hair is very fine and I just let it grow and grow until I think it looks like it needs a cut then I get several inches cut from it. I have a nice lady who comes to the house and charges about a third of what the salons want. Vince tries to get his cut about every six weeks but sometimes he's not happy with his barber and will try a new one.

Some people get their hair cut too often, I think. I am often amazed, sitting and waiting to get called on, all the people ahead of me who are practically bald and I look like an Amazon. Dude, you don't even have any hair. Get out of my damn way!

Not often enough. I like to keep it short so it's easy to wash and rinse. Have a good weekend,

Keeping that hair growing for so many months must have made him look different You must be happy that he finally had it cut.

It’s a big event for me too. It took me a long time after the pandemic to muster the courage to go back to a barber, for a proper haircut. I’d been cutting my own during that time, and I was getting quite good at it, apart from the back. I’d also saved a fortune in that time and was shocked at how much the charge had gone up. £12 for a haircut now! I don’t have much hair, so Ive decided to continue to cut my own, but go every six months or so to get it tidied up. However, if there was a nice young lady to do mine, I might consider going more often.

You are right on the price going way up. A lady cannot go for less that $45 to most places. Nuts!!

@Orson_Kart I would prefer the in and out also. I don't go for all the highlights, perms or other stuff. Just simple cut for me and I'm on my way!

@kareng Same here. I think it’s a day out for the ladies, but us ‘gents’ like to be in and out in five minutes.

He was always very particular with all that, especially when he was working. I've cut it plenty of time and he always finds something to grumble about- usually around his ears. Today, the girl didn't touch around his ears, so that will take some getting used to and I bet in a day or too he will be complaining.

I usually get my hair cut every three months. It looks really great for about a week and a half, then goes berserk. (I have naturally wavy/curly hair.)

My hair only has a little body to it so I can usually go at least 6 months. However, my hair grows really fast. In 2019 my hair was shorter than shoulder length. Now it is down to my behind.

He went a good while without a cut. I cannot blame him though I was literally shaking the first time that I got a haircut after the lockdown was over. My hubs usually get his cut every 6 weeks or so and I am about every 7 or 8 weeks.

Yes, it was time! I had trimmed the length once before for him. Otherwise, it would have been at least to his mid-back!

I used to cut my own. I started that when I was still in high school. After my senior pictures were taken, I cut my hair very short. Then a couple of weeks later I got a call from the photography studio that my formal pictures did not come out or were lost--forget which one it was. My cap and gown photos were fine. I had to go in and re-take the photos. I ended up with cap and gown photos with long hair and formal pictures with short hair

@kareng sometimes i feel like many girls were growing their hair only for those pictures and prom, because so many girls cut their hair right after these events i got a funny situation when it comes to my college graduate photos. my hair was fine, but i managed to cut off my lashes with lash curler. it could've been fixed with fake eyelashes, but it would look funny. so i just decided to go the way i am - with eyelashes on one eye only

Yes! We are not even half way done yet. Took a break to go give chickens their late afternoon snack and do their water and he took care of wrapping water faucet pipe outside and a few other things. So I called break time!
