Picking up my new car

I had a wic appointment this morning and as soon as it was done I left to go pick up my new car. It’s not brand new it’s 4 few years old but very nice condition and only 30,000 miles I believe. I didn’t know my husband was going to meet me halfway so I didn’t bring a book to read while he drove. Luckily I knew we were going to stop at a little free library after picking up my car so I brought two bags of books with me to drop off. There was a Danielle Steel book in there called “Special Delivery” that I hadn’t ever read so I grabbed that out and started reading it. It’s a short book it won’t take me long to get through then I can go back to reading Nicholas Sparks books. My husband’s been extremely short and grumpy lately and started on me on the drive there. He snapped at me the second time saying “Do you hear the words coming out of my mouth?”. It was really uncalled for so I said don’t talk to me for the rest of the day I’m sick of the attitude lately. I have a curbside pickup at Walmart to grab on the way home and have to stop to fix a geocache. Then back home to finish laundry I didn’t get done with yesterday. Not a very good photo but that’s my new car.

It's a nice looking car. I hope you actually like it. I still don't like your hubby... *sigh* Money problems make me grumpy, too, though.

@TheHorse my guess is worried about money. He had a whole slew of things he wanted to buy himself and now that had to go towards a car for me and insurance for it etc.

@sallypup yes brand spanking new ($800 payment a month) and wants a bunch of stuff for it he doesn’t really need. Car seat covers sure I can see getting those even the cargo unit he got for under his back seat but now he wants a plow (not to plow for anyone else to earn money just for our driveway which isn’t really very long 100 feet maybe) and a big canopy thing to go over the truck bed in the summer. He’s always looking for the next thing he can buy himself. I paid for everything for my car up until now. The car insurance, repairs etc. He constantly over the years tried talking me into buying something else (compliments of him) but I was fine with what I had. Now he’s already being nasty and I feel indebted to him.

@kaylachan he tells me after certain moments how much he loves me. That doesn’t spell real love to me when he treats me the way he does and I plan to tell him that the next time he tells me he loves me.

The car looks great and in such pristine condition for being 4 years old. I’m amazed it’s only got 30,000 on the clock, because from what @FourWalls tells me about the size of America, that car must have only been driven around the block. Picking up a new car is an exciting event, so I’m sorry to hear your husband ruined the experience for you. Hopefully you’ll have many happy journeys in the future. Here’s a bit of Madness to help you along:

@Orson_Kart I put about 10,000 miles on my car a year. I’d guess another stay at home mom or someone who works at home. Then again maybe someone who lives in a city and doesn’t need to drive far. I drive over 30 miles one way weekly to get groceries at Walmart and Aldis.

@FourWalls 700 miles? I think I’d be half way across France if I travelled that far. Long way! Yeah, they are great, and I knew you’d like them. @shaggin obviously doesn’t, or didn’t listen to it.

That's nice! I'm happy for you! Be happy and keep smiling!! That should drive the man crazy! He just got a new truck, so he should be happy for you--especially if he had been previously harping on buying one for you! Don't feel bad!! You deserve a car of your own.

@kareng smiling is hard when I was crying the whole way home because of him. But you are so right! I would have kept driving my old little car if I could have but it was impossible. I was actually very scared we were going to break down on the way to the dealership.

@allknowing I should be but everytime I think oh things are going good wam he turns into a jerk again and then I think is it really so bad if the mental abuse isn’t every day. How often is too often? Then when things are okay I think was I just imagining it was bad that bad? Then when he’s a jerk again I remember so many other times that it makes me hate him for a few days.

@shaggin How he treats you and speaks to you speaks volumes of who he is. And what about your little girl? Is she hearing all of this? Will she grow up thinking this is an acceptable way to be treated by a partner/husband? I stayed in my marriage too long, and put up with a lot of verbal abuse. A LOT. One day, my two sons confronted their Dad and told him to get out, and to get out now. They didn't like the way he talked to me or how he treated me, and they let him know that. Me? I was sorry I waited so long and did nothing, I never dreamed it affected them as badly as it did, and that's on me. I also discovered a person can survive when and if they have to. Your husband works, he would have to pay child support. If he treats you badly, I hope you will reconsider your situation and try to remedy it...life is too short to put up with being treated so badly.

@moffittjc my husband thought he would like the trailblazer more. I pointed out it has a huge blind spot. The dealer said the Equinox had a lot nicer features. They were both the same age, mileage and price. My husband test drove the trail blazer and felt like it was very junky compared to the Equinox. He said it felt like he was driving my HHR.

@shaggin I thought it looked like an Equinox. I've always been a Ford guy, but I was looking at Chevy's not too long ago and I actually liked a few of their cars. I especially liked the Blazer and Traverse.

@Kandae11 I’m assuming he isn’t happy about having to buy me a different vehicle which will be a car payment and a car insurance payment each month he never had until now. Although he tried for years to talk me into letting him buy me a vehicle. Seems now that he actually has to he’s unhappy.

That's a nice car and a good choice in a Chevy too. I used to read a lot of Danielle Steel. Another good one is Nora Loft. I used to read her books years ago. I wonder if any are still in print. And Victoria Holt comes to mind too.

@celticeagle They put a new plate on my car and told me the one I had was to old. How odd I thought as long as they weren’t peeling etc they could continue to be used. Mine was 14 years old. I have never heard of those two authors but I love Nora Robert’s, Jodi Picoult and a few others.

@Marilynda1225 my husband and I sharing it over the winter it seems. As long as I don’t need the car I’m fine with it it’ll save him gas with his huge truck. In the nice weather though I’ll be out and about a lot more and will want it. They are both excellent authors.
