I don’t know what to do with myself.

Last night I didn’t sleep at all, and the previous two nights I slept only two. My back (car accident decades ago) and legs are just killing me. I really don’t know what to do with myself. I took a prescription anti-inflammatory, but no luck. Roll ons and creams did nothing, nor did a heating pad. Anybody have any suggestions?

Bless your heart! Dear God, Creator of the universe, we know you made Amber in Your image and You love her more than we could imagine. She's suffering right now and we're asking that You touch her body, take away the pain, and give her that peace that passes all understanding. We ask this in the precious name of Your Son, our Savior and Lord Jesus Christ. Amen.

Oh, Amber. It really does sound like you need to go to the ER. Call your Dad...get some help. Please, please, we all love you and we want you to not be in pain.

I thought about that Marie, but they would give me a narcotic, and I signed a pain contract with my pain doctor that I would not get something like that from anyone but him. They make anybody on pain medication do that now. At least in Oklahoma. I called that doctor about him forgetting to call my pain medication in, but the receptionist said he’s out of town. That was Monday. He apparently left quite a few patients up a creek.

@AmbiePam The contract is an agreement between you and him. It is null and void as he didn’t do what was promised!! I would think any ER doctor will agree and sign off on what you should have. The fact that he left you like this is not acceptable.

Grrrrr He is violating his oath (Hippocratic Oath "First do no harm") and is doing harm to all these people he let down with unfilled prescriptions. Hot tub was my first thought, girl, but I do not know if you have access.

@GardenGerty I got (all his patients I assume) a text this morning that said he will probably be back by Wednesday, but for sure by a week from Monday. It’s going to be tough.

I know this may sound silly, but have you considered lying on your back with some really quiet music on to lull you to sleep? I find that works, and sometimes I just need silence. Try to turn the furnace down so that it is not hot, we sleep better when it is a degree or so cooler.

I did try that last night. I ended up listening to some really beautiful music, which took away some anxiety, but didn’t help me sleep.

This doesn't sound good. Hot shower? I wish you had a deep, hot tub to lie in. Taking all the weight off your sore areas does help. Hugs.

Thanks, Lenore. I appreciate it. I don’t have any hot water in my apartment right now, but hopefully soon.

@AmbiePam No hot water? That sounds like a housing violation. That shouldn't be allowed to stand! What does the manager have to say about that? Poor Amber... A hot bath aids in relaxation.

I'm sorry you are in so much pain. Was reading the comments . . . is there any way that receptionist can get a hold of your pain doctor - I mean, this is an emergency. I would think he would make himself accessible if he's out for so long since he is in pain management. Or is there a nurse in the office who could make suggestions?

@JudyEv I should call and ask. At the very least, I can periodically call to see if they are taking new patients.

@AmbiePam Can you go on a waiting list for the 'full' doctors? This is just an awful situation for you.

Maybe a trip to the doctor can tell more of what to do. I was to suggest hot packs and pain reliever but I you mentioned it all. Hope you feel better soon

I don't know what to suggest but I think you should discuss this with a doctor, You need to have some relief. I will put you in my prayers. I looked online to see suggestions but they are the usual, You need immediate relief, Perhaps take a look on YouTube they have suggestions for back pain relief, Perhaps something here

You need to go to an urgent care or ER. The pain is unacceptable and the lack of sleep just makes it worse.

That's quite severe if not even a prescription anti-inflammatory works, sorry to hear. I'd suggest changes in the diet, such as cutting on gluten, dairy or sugar. Sometimes they're the culprits but again, your situation sounds way more serious than that.

Sometimes Vicks Vapo Rub will help and it's better than popping pills. It only takes a little - don't go overboard with it. My hubby always says that's greasy, but not it you rub it in!

@AmbiePam I use it for leg cramps. Sometimes I wonder why we quit using all the "old" remedies and went with all this new stuff that turns out to be dangerous or just masks the original problem.

I hope you are feeling better now. Since this is because of your car accident even if that is decades ago I suggest you consult your doctor for a better and correct treatment.

Yes, I have a pain management doctor, but he forgot to refill my pain prescription and went out of town. I’ve had several surgeries and procedures over the years.

I can relate to what your dealing with & that's why I have a BUTT load of naproxen on hand that when nothing else works I take 2 of them & sleep my a?? off for the day. Being they are a lot stronger than any other pain killer's.

@ambiepam You can also take five naproxen (which equals prescription strength as per one of my old doctors, who went on leave to travel with her husband. You have to wait longer than 4 hours for repeat though.

@2ndchances24 I just wanted to give her the information since she is in extreme pain. I know it is not something that should be taken all the time or at that dosage all the time.

@kareng I wouldn't do that cause they are very powerful as I take 2 at 500 mg & my dr's didn't like the sound of that cause they can cause problems later on in life if you take too many for a period of time, so I try not to unless it's a must do thing, I need my life. Here is a little tip for people taking naproxen On why you have to careful taking it.
