How Does Your Garden Grow?

If you garden, have you started growing any plants yet? I've had mine started since January. I started with peppers and tomatoes. I use a damp coffee filter with the seeds on and then put in a labeled snack size baggie. I have many other plants started, let me see if I can recollect without looking at them...3 types of basil, swiss chard, aster, cabbage, bok choy, brussel sprouts, chicory, butterfly weed, several different types of mint. Black eye Susan and coneflower, mullein. I'm sure there are others that isn't coming to mind. I'm having difficulty with Echinacea and oregano as well as nasturtium getting them to germinate. I do have a green house which helps me to start earlier. I find it therapeutic to put my hands in the dirt and watch my plants grow.

Maybe I'll plant some corn and green beans today. I still have some tomatoes out there.

Sounds like you’ve got quite the garden going already Using a damp coffee filter in a baggie is such a smart way to germinate seeds. I have oregano plants here already

I'm not sure why I have such difficulty starting oregano from seed.

@rakski I have had success propagating from a stem, but not from seed.

You are off to a great start. I have tomatoes coming up and have planted some green beans, peas, watermelon, eggplant, squash, bell peppers and banana peppers so far.

@terri0824 My spinach is going in soon, garlic is well on its way. Potatoes just planted yesterday. Apart from that it’s mostly flowers I’m growing now - garden’s awash with tulips, hyacinth, daffodils etc.

Tulips are beautiful...I try to plant flowers and herbs that are edible and medicinal. But I do have some just for their beauty.

I'm always envious of those who have lush gardens. I don't have one and have never been successful in growing anything. So, I admire gardens from afar.

Mine hasn't been as productive as the ones we had growing up...hoping that will change once I retire in August.

That's impressive that you're growing all these from seed.

Hopefully when I retire, I will have even a bigger garden. Right now, it hard to keep up with what I have and work full time.
