When is it Enough?

There is an old saying that enough is enough.
Very old, and when you stop and say it slowly to yourself, you have to ask, have I ever felt this way before? Have I ever induced this feeling on someone else before?
I can answer that I have felt like enough IS enough.
I joined this friendly site 10 years ago this summer. I was very thankful for the recommendation from another member. You know who you are.
For the most part my experience here, until these past days, were pleasant, and fun. I visited with friends from every corner of the world. Lots of thoughts, traditions and cultural differences have come about. I find this very rich and none of us are too old to learn something new.
Something new let's go there. And how it pertains to enough.
I am here of my own free will. It, to the best of my knowledge IS a global site. Anyone who knows better, please feel free to correct me. And we are all adults who know that cyber-bullying IS not cool, nor tolerable.
What happens when the squeaky wheels, shall we call them, of this site prevail? The visitors and the posts and the comments all cease. And the earnings that they and anyone else here will decrease. And eventually a site could fold.
Ready to come down from your soap boxes yet and realize that enough IS enough?

You are so right. Although it's true I've been busy with "life" that I haven't been able to visit here as much lately, truth is I've also been hesitant to come here. This site has always been my happy place . . . an ongoing online party as I often call it. I can deal with party poopers, but lately it's been a huge turn off . . . as you said, enough is enough.

Sadly negativity spreads quicker than positivity, but we can have what we both enjoyed, the online party here at myLot. It just takes the effort to post about the positives and enjoy that aspect, as we have full control over that, other negative things, we cannot control we shouldn't dwell on.

The only thing I’m adamant about is you HAVE to give Hank Williams a listen.
I see the vitriol and I can’t help but think of Jesus’ words in Matthew 24: “Many false prophets will rise up and mislead many people. And, because lawlessness is increased, most people’s love will become cold.” I saw an article last year where a prominent Southern Baptist (a very conservative evangelical denomination) sounded the alarm over evangelicals (who believe in a literal translation of every word in the Bible) REJECTING things like “Love your neighbor as yourself” as “liberal theology” and “woke.” The very words of Christ are no longer relevant. So what chance does anyone have.

Your words are to be carefully recalled when things do not seem as they should.
I would do just about anything for one of JJ's old coffee moments post-those were the best.
That always got the (funny) ball rolling around here in the mornings it seemed.

I agree with you Most come to this site for pleasant interaction not to argue or try to prove our ideas are the correct ones.

I avoid them all together, but when you have people posting defending politics, that isn't what a social site should be all about. I think that is what is driving members away.
We should be having a good time, looking at pictures of your cats and joking around not proving points on things that we ourselves haven't accomplished.

@wolfgirl569 If tastefully done, religious and political posts can be tolerated, but when you have to block people because they won't let something go, that is a bit much.

@Juliaacv I don't mind seeing political or religious posts if they are done with respect that others have different opinions. But some here don't do that. Their political views are the only ones that's right.

Thanks, and I enjoy interacting with you.
I have been very hurt over the past little while.
I am trying my hardest to turn the other cheek, but some members are so insistent.
I will stick around as long as I am having fun and not feeling harassed.

So true. I've had some interactions with some real know-it-alls on here. I took it from them and tried to put up with it until I could no longer. I had to block two last year. But, it was partially my fault because I was posting on a subject I should know better than to bring here. It wasn't until a couple of other members saw what was happening and told me their views that I finally decided to block them. I just have had to sort of rant and I have gotten better and do not have the need that much anymore. But, I have been on this site for many years and have only had to block 3 members in all of that time so I think that's pretty good.
It's like I always say--- I may not always post about a subject you like. If it causes you triggers or is something you don't care for please move on. There are plenty of other posts to enjoy.
I do feel that we all have a right to free speech and it is fun to post something and get feedback.

@Juliaacv I saw where a young member recently left the site because of members treating her weird. It is sad that people can't all just live by The Golden Rule. And, be adult enough to conclude that folks just have to agree to disagree sometimes. But, also there always going to be weird types in any group. It's just the way things are. Sad. Don't like it but it is what it is.

Sure, it is a free world and speech is a part of that.
But what about time and place appropriate?
There are certain topics-religion, money and politics, which are not generally discussed in groups as it is frowned upon.
I think this is what is causing members to leave or just not use the site and our traffic is down.
And where is the fun in being told-you-so and I am right and you are wrong over things that are beyond what anyone here has control over?
I would rather chat and have a good time.

Life is much too short for any kind of nonsense. There are so many positive things to look forward to in life and there are still good times to be had,

I haven't seen the bullying, but please know there are people here who love you, including me. People should not let politics and government garbage interfere with friendships.

We all have to try to have a good time here.
If some people's definition of a good time is talking politics, then leave the rest of us out of it.
Otherwise, you and me, we gonna take to raising the fists together.
We just need a little laughter like that again.

It would be a shame if this site ceases to exist due to a few rotten apples spoiling the harvest of good people here.

That is what I have been doing.
But when your country is called out over and over and over again, by people who aren't political experts just know-it-alls, it is not easy.
That is why I wrote this, and that is why I have personally drawn a line in the sand.
I will stick around to see if I can have some fun, but if not, then I will exit.

I find this site, and the participants in it, friendly in the main. I’ve obviously upset a few over the years because I’ve been blocked by them, but it’s not anything I’ve intentionally said. I just put it down to them not getting my sense of humour. I have noticed quite a few here are far too serious and like to browbeat others who don’t agree with them. They’re not people I want to associate with here, so I avoid them.

I agree, but I doubt that will happen any time soon.
I would love to stay provided that there isn't the harassment and that we have a good time like we used to.
We need some adorable Tuffy and Roscoe pictures in a post to get past this---hint hint hint.
