Read the discussions or do they just read the title line?!? I have been looking around and I have noticed alot of bitterness and venom for no reason. For example I seen this post that had a topic line of a bunch of stereotypes and people went on the war path, although the actual discussion was about the ignorance of stereotypes, was this a ploy to get more responses? I do not know but I do know that if these people would of actually read the discussion they would have responded differently. So do people only read the topic line? what do you think?!?

I think a lot of people only read the headlines and then go post their response just to get the money, not that the money is great here.
It takes a while to shufle through the crap to get to some really good discussions.
I am also sure that many people post headlines that are meant to get more responses. But there are some great discussion that come from these ploy headlines.
I hope that in time the people that are here only for the money go away and we are left with intelligent people who acctually want to have great discussions.
I think many of the changes mylot is making are heading us in the right direction.

That is truely a shame when people do stuff like that it not only cheapens themselves but it also cheapens the discussion. I do not wish that these people like this would leave I only wish that they would participate more and actually enjoy the COMMUNITY that myLot admins are trying to establish.
As you can tell if you look at some of my other posts I do not post to try to get responses I post to get a read but I do agree that alot of people do post inflamitory comments just to get the responses.
With all of the changes myLot is moving in a great direction and I hope that it will last for a long, long time. Thank you for the post and have a very HAPPY NEW YEAR!!

Hey the pay here is not too bad I am at 215 and I have $19.43 in the bank, but that is from quality not quantity. When I first came here it was initally for the networking since I thought penny a post isn't nothing. Then I started reading some of the discussions and started replying to some and hell I got hooked. MyLot is just fun... it is fun to meet people, talk to people, get advice, give advice, etc... I have almost totally forgotten about the networking and I am full blown into community with the pay being just a bonus. Anyways back to the subject...
Yes there is a cornacopia of information and entertainment here and if people would just spend their time enjoying the cultural diversity here they would grow to enjoy the community rather than just looking for a fight. Hell I for one can talk about damn near anything and can respect damn near anything since I keep an open mind, but those that get inflamed by a topic should not be in a place like this. So I thank you for the post and for taking the time to read!! Happy New Year!!

I think I have been victim many of times of a person only reading the title and not the additional information. And it is horrible! People attack and they cause that person to not want to be on myLot. Thankfully, I have had friends that have gelped and stuck up for me. Or even people that stuck up for me when they weren't my friend and just wanted to get across to the person they were wrong.
It is sad really. People offend others due to their laziness of not reading the whole discussion. Some things are said that are very hurtful and bitter. I don't understand why people do that.
So, to ensure that I do not become one of those people...I read all of the discussion and even if I disagree, I word myself to not offend or try to be tactful and respectful.
Oh! And yes, some do it as a ploy to get more responses. Those discussions I do not bother to contribute to. Others, the title is to just catch the attention in hopes that the person will be interested enough to read the whole topic starter.

MEE I like to lead a person in for a read don't you think?!? I do not want people posting on my discussions just from reading the headline. I usually have something atleast halfway decient to say and I want someone to see it. That would fall under the old proverb of "Never judge a book by its cover". I would be one of them to stick up for you since I have for a couple here on myLot already. This world is full of alot of bitterness and hatefulness and there is no need for more over a simple misunderstanding. Thank you for the post once again my friend, I know that you are a reader!!! HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!

It's true I think MOST people don't read the discussions. They will look at the headline, post some response and wait until their earnings will come up. I don't think that would make a good increase because the relevance of the discussion and the quality of your response really does matter here. A lot of people don't care about the discussion but would only care if they could reply on a certain topic that they will see on the top discussion's tab or the new discussions tab. They don't care about other's responses so they will end up replying in a matter that no one could actually understand. It will get off of the topic and they will be frustrated adding a single cent on that certain post they have made. It is the enjoyment that counts here. I am not after the money, I have a lot of them but keep in mind that others posts here for help or for getting someone's view out of something. Then they will reply with a single word or a single sentence saying "Yah me too" or "I agree to that." That is something that is considred nonsense but there a lot of them. Sometimes it is difficult to find a good topic to read and discuss with. There are a alot of topics here that should be marked spam if only possible to. They are only making money but messing with the others who wanted the quality of the discussion. The sentiments I got that's why I post some discussions about the purpose of joining myLot. You will never get rich out of this so you better find a better job. If this thing doesn't come and mark inside their minds, there is no hope for those persons. If only possible myLot could suspend those users but the grounds should be valid enough. The term "Quality not quantity" is being ignored by those people. They are getting into my nerves but what can I do? It is still myLot administration has the authority to suspend users. And also I don't think they can watch the thousands of users here posting if the team is only hundreds of people. It will be very impossible if we don't report abuse. And you should be very specific in defining the abusive part on the posts that you they have done. So as of now let us just be patient and wait until people here would understand the true essence of the myLot community. Thank you for having a very good topic here!

Yes that is a very big problem here there is so much attention put on the fact that myLot pays that people forget the real purpose of a forum community. A forum is meant for the free exchange of thoughts, ideas, problems, etc... It is meant to be discussions not dollars (pennies). As soon as people realize that this is a great community and it is more than just a place to make pocket change, myLot will become a great community.
I read a post just the other day that was trying to describe how myLot pays and their asertainment was that you make the most from myLot from new discussions. As true as this may be, (I do not know and do not care), it is discussions like this that will lead to lots of senseless discussions about nothing just to make that quick penny or two. Thank you for the post and have a great day!!

It just amazes mee since do they not care how they are looked upon by others I mean come-on if the heading is "ALL BLONDES ARE DUMB" yet the body says "This is an example of some of the imflamitory stuff that I am finding everywhere and it makes me mad. How about you?" if someone replies "We are not all dumb, some of us are very intelligent and I resent you saying that!!! :-(" OMG What the ....??? Anyways.... This is true in most cases yet my "Better" half is also a blonde, a very vocal one at that, but she is very intelligent, hell she keeps mee on my toes. But what separates her from this group is that she knows how to "PICK her fights", she does not go blindly swinging. Although if what she hears does not float....... tsk,tsk,tsk... all hell will break loose!! Thank you for the post and have a great day!!

I believe as of lately a lot of people only read the title line. Most have attacked many without ever really taking the time to read the actual topic of the discussion thus putting forth something that had not a thing to do with the actual discussion. I to read about the post of those said stereotypes and most assumed he/she only did that for more responses, but I thought it to be a logical and well thought out discussion, but did not reply because it had been turned into an argument and I don't involve myself in those.

First off I must say I like the avatar it describes mee perfectally! I once had a doctor tell mee that as long as I have these voices I will never be alone!! HA,HA!! :-) I am glad to hear that you avoided that whole mess over in that other discussion as did I. I have seen alot of discussions here like that and I just read and move on if it looks like there are many fatalities. I also thought it was somewhat calculated but too big a risk for mee to take and I bet the author wishes now that he/she did not take it themselves. Thank you for the post and for taking the time to read. HAPPY NEW YEAR!!

I do belive that some people just read the first line, or maybe the 2 first. I have seen this alot - people discussiing things that is not relevant to the actual article - but to the first line maybe.
I do wish people would take the time to read the whole thing!

Hi...even i do think of that some people just read the topic line and feels that they know about the matter and write some rubbish......i really feel it to be...but i read the complete topic, analyse it and give my response answer as here people really share their problems and its our responsibility to reply at least some meaningful......
ya even i agree that if they really read those topics not reading the topic line their views would be different......so even you read and respond in a true form .....good luck....

i think some people just read the title or post just to get money, but if you don't have an interest in the subject just leave it alone. Noone wants to here opinions that don't pertain to the subject. When you read the heading and it catches your attention You should take the time to read the entire post before submitting a response.

I think many people are here just to make money and just read the topic to make their .02. I always read all the way through and sometimes even read a second or third time -- it is hard to understand what some people are asking. If I feel I can't answer the question, I don't. I can't stand it when people answer with I don't know.

Piss them off to draw them in is the name of that game. Ther was a figure in history that was known for that and I do not remember who it was, but one of his battle plans was to send one person out to piss off the enemy so they would chase him back to an ambush. i think that some people read only the topic line, and most read the topic line and skim the discussion, like myself. most likely the people that you are talking about skimmed and thought that somehow talking about the war related to ingnorant stereotypes.

If I'm going to respond, I read the entire question. Now that doesn't mean that I'll read all the comments as in some cases there are several pages of comments, but if I'm going to respond, then yes I will definately read the entire question. I am a new member but I try to respond to stuff that actually interests me or that I can really answer. I'm sure a lot of people do just read the title line. The only reason I read ONLY the title line is if I'm *not* going to respond to it.

yes sometimes people are in a hurry and they tend to read only the bold lines.so it is often better to make your title self explanatory.that makes much better sense,so people just reading the title would have a good idea as to what to discuss about!

But if you make all of the titles self explanitory you are catering to the lazy and money hungry which does not make for a good community. I am not saying to make the titles all inflamitory or deceiving just for people to take a moment or two and read rather than go into hysterics. Thank you for the post and have a great New Year!!

I ONLY READ THE HEADLINE!!!! LMAO!!
No, I read the WHOLE thing!! I have had a few of my own discussions be mutilated by comments that made absolutely no sense because someone just wanted a quick .03 cents!! I would say that it takes common sense to know that in order to respond you have to read the WHOLE discussion, but when you look at it (and all of the "stupid" comments), there are a lot of people that don't have any!! When I first became a member I didn't have to read the rules or FAQ's to know that I had to read the whole thing, not just the headline. And really that is why some of my discussions have the titles that they have so that not only do they catch your eye, but they make you WANT to read them...at least that's what I THINK that they do...LMAO!! But I had to give a + to someone today because they posted a comment in the wrong discussion. Don't know how, but when I read it I had to make sure of what discussion I was in just to make sure I wasn't confused!!!

If you look at this discussion...it already has over 70 posts. I can't read 70 posts for each discussion I look at before I answer...I'd be here for a week and get nothing accomplished. I'm not here to make big bucks, and most of us have come to realize it is more fun to discuss and to post than to expect a lot of money. I read quite a bit of the discussion and answers but not all. I really think it is a matter of english not being the 1st language of the person who answers...you can usually tell by how they answer that they don't quite understand what was being talked about.

It is not the answers that are being discussed as not read here. I would never expect anyone to read all of the answers to a discussion, as I myself do not. But what is in question here is weather or not people are reading the DISCUSSION itself (once again not the answers). My assumption that has been agreed to over and over again is that some poeple are only reading the title not the discussion. Do you see now what is being said here? With this post of yours it could be assumed that you either do not fully understand or you skimmed the discussion, either way I hope that I have helped you understand a little better. Thank you for the post and have a great day!!

I have noticed people posting just headlines and nothing else. How can I respond to a discussion if I do not know the posters views on the topic? I usually read the topic and a lot of the response, before making a comment, otherwise, I may be accused of copying. I just log on to MyLot every now and again, and if I see a discussion that merits a response, then I will respond. To tell the truth, the money doesn't interest me, as I would have to work my fingers to the bone in order to get a a few cents, but I enjoy reading the discussions and it gives me a break from surfing the auction sites and playing scrabble against the computer.

Great answer. I have yet to see one of these discussions that are just a headline. Maybe the auther cannot think of anything else to write besides the headline which in my eyes would be a borderline abuse. Like if a headline is Do you like burgers? and there is nothing more chances are it was just someone trying to get that quick penny and I will not even respond, just report and - them. thank you for the post adn hvae a great day! Hope you are beating that damn computer!!

I am afraid that I am totally guilty of writing provocative headlines - but the discussion content is always relavant. I tend to use a bit of sarcasm when I write, but the better you know me, you will realize that my titles are not always exactly what they appear; but the wackier they are, the more you will enjoy them~Donna
