No he is not a dictator, too many rednecks in this country to allow a dictator to rule us. He is just a fallen leader. We are not a Democracy either. We are aRepublican country with Democratic views. The people put him in office and has to live the decision until the next election. He was the best candidate at the time. America never has any great people running for office so you end up putting the lesser of two eveils in office. Or you try to keep one out of office and end up putting not the best person in. He is doing what he thinks is best, I wouldn't want the responsibilty myself.

No, it isn't a dictatorship. Far from it. All of our rights are intact and nothing resembling dictatorship has been done.
Maybe you don't know what dictatorship means:
A government in which political power is exercised by a single individual whose rule is considered illegitimate.
Bush is still held in check by the other two branches of government. Get real.

Apparently you, being from the UK, are not familar with the US civic system and the electoral college. That or you forget to mention it because it helps your case. It has been a part of our country since its founding. Not to mention that the second time Bush was elected he did win the popular vote, after the war in Iraq and after his "approval rating" was supposedly so bad.
I thought the "illegitimate" part of the definition was irrelevant. THe important part of the term dictator is that there is no one to check their power. In America, the legistlative branch and the judicial branch as well as accountability to the people of America restrain the President. Not to mention that dictators take away rights, where Bush has not.
Say what you like, just make sure you use words correctly. :)

Please keep in mind that Bush does not represent the USA. Bush does what Bush wants to do regardless of what anybody has to say. Hopefully the voters will remedy that situation in the next election. America needs a president that will listen to the people. I could go on and on if I got started on Bush but I'll try to refrain. Please do not judge all of us by this clown.

Bush does represent me. He is expressing my views well, and my opinion, doing what needs to be done. America needs a leader who makes executive decisions, not a coward who follows the polls on every decision. The people elected Bush in 2004, not themselves. He is our president, and he DOES represent America, like it or not.

Yup, i think Bush is not represented by voice of american people. I think he only heard what he want, not american want. You Know, "power tends to corrupt". I think corruption is not only money corruption but also voice of democracy.

A dictatorship is loosely defined as a government run by a single individual who may or may not be seen as a legitimate source of government.
Fact: In 2004 more people voted for President Bush than have voted for any other candidate in history.
Fact: The American Government is divided into three independent branches each with checks and balances over the others
Fact: The President is never given absolute authority and therefore loses power after 8 years in office.
This is about as far from a dictatorship as possible.

Try asking all those people today and see if they would vote for him again. He is a joke with the lowest approval rating in history. As far as the other branches of government, Bush could care less. He does what he wants and publicly says so on tv. He has not represented the country well. I can't wait to see him go.

I'm saying in 2004 more people than ever in history thought he was the right man for the job.

I hope this can help a bit without taking sides. Most Americans have forgotten or never been educated about the true functioning of our government. We are NOT a democracy. We are a Democratic Republic. Sort of like taking the Julius Caeser and the Republic of Rome and mixing it with the bicameral system of England.
Congress should pass laws. Congress should appropriate funds as outlined. The President should listen to the people and confer with administration aides. Failure to do so....should have little consequence from Congress. Only politics obscure this. So what to do.
First of, lose the electoral college and go straight for popular vote. Huge benefits to the peoples morale. Trust in government regained.
As Commander-in-Chief, the president has unique and powerful duties. Congress doesn't have these type of powers and for good reason. It is necessary to lead a country with a monarch or political figure-head. Without these, reaction to situations would be drastically reduced. More people would be worried and economy could crash as fears rise.
Lastly......the Constitution says that when the people see that the current form of governement isn't working, it is up to them to revolt. Just like we did with England those many years ago.
Remove religeon from ALL political discussions. Religeon should be enjoyed and loved in each own's family and friends. It should not be a mandate for any action politically or patriotically.

President Bush is NOT a dictator. Making a statement like that without any information to back it up shows that you really don't know what our American government is based upon. We have extensive freedom here in our country and are not limited to what we can do at the hands of a dictator.
The governments taht I have seen that are led by a dictator cannot speak out against government --here in the U.S. we can do that. I support President Bush 100%.
We have many, many freedoms that aren't echoed throughout the world...dictated...we are not.

I would again say that the types of dictatorship should be defined now...... he has hijacked America... claims that what he is doing, all around the globe, is to make America safe.... huh
nowadays more Americians are getting killed than in any other time...
Today America is in the same situation as Russia was......
Why not to live upto your resources...
live and let others live....

Many, many Americans did not vote for George Bush and think his politics stink. Just like a great deal of Britons did not vote for Tony Blair and think his government stinks.
the reality is though, we know it will change. In two years, we get to choose again. If we make another mistake, well, we make another mistake. But, we can change our governemtn without revolution or violence.
And, no it is not a democracy or a dictatorship. It is a representative government based on a 200 year old constitution that has flaws, just like most of the constitutions around the world.
Still, it's a lot better than many of the alternatives around the world.

Bush is pretty much the worst president ever. That he is in charge of my government literally makes me afraid for my future.

The USA is actually a republic; it has democratic elements, but it is not a true democracy. It's more of a representative democracy.
Bush might as well be America's dictator. Didn't he once say that running a dictatorship would be easier as long as he were the dictator? I don't remember where he said that, but it wasn't that long ago. His political party claims to be for "less government" but in reality what they've done is expanded government so far beyond the peoples' control that it's going to take years for the next administrations to undo the damage.

Bush has certainly made a power grab during his 6 years in office. The balance of power has shifted because of his abuse of his position. Executive priviledge, signing statements, and basically claiming that the Commander in Chief can do whatever the heck he likes when we're at war (as defined by him) have been crippling to the other branches of government, particularly the legislature.
Dictatorships don't generally start by a bunch of people getting together and deciding "hey, let's have a dictator." It's always a power grab, and it's often subtle and disguised as "protecting the people."
