The ladies on the View just brought up an interesting point. Rosie said that if they would stop playing all of the bad auditions as much and put in more of the really good people who auditioned, just as many people would watch American Idol. I know if the people were good I would enjoy the show a lot more. Too many bad people this time.

I think they are doing what America wants. America LOVES to see the bad auditions and they wait to see what Simon is going to say. I know I'm not watching the auditions just to see the good people who I'm going to see again. I do want that laugh--I seriously think some of those people do go there knowing how much they stink and want a reaction. I don't agree about making fun of someone though. Not for their looks.

It's reality and playing to the audience. They want to raise the ratings by seeing what the judges have to go through in choosing who goes on. I just can't believe some of these people would embarrass themselves on national television this way. I would actually like to see more of the ones who aren't the best but at least have a chance. Some of these people don't need the show to prove they can sing. They are so good they shouldn't be wasting the time going through the weekly shows and be out there singing already. Why waste the time performing each week when they could be out there making money right away?

Maybe they are showing the bad auditions first to make a good laugh and show the good auditions later.
It is really the fisrt thing that everybody does to every auditions I think, I watched it also and I can't help it but laugh. For those people, it is their moment to become a star, let the whole world see them.

I don't know. I heard Rosie talking about that the other day, too, but it seems to me like everyone I know (well, not everyone.. but a lot of them *laugh*) say how much they love the bad auditions, and that that is the only part of the show that they really love! I find that perplexing. I kind of find the oddball auditions fun, but not the 'bad' auditions where the person just cannot sing. Some of those hurt my ears! *laugH* And I think that they focus far, far too much on the bad auditions, as well. They could show a lot more of the good auditioners, or just cut down the audition shows and make them a lot shorter. Instead, they show us more and more bad auditions every year, it seems like. And then they make a best of the worst show, usually, as well! I'm glad that I'm not really that into Idol anymore.. I just grew out of it, I think. But I always keep an eye on it.. I just am not that invested in the show as a whole. Not like when Clay was on.. I voted my fingers off for that boy! LOL ^_~

Last night my ears were yelling mute the sound but I didn't want to miss the comedy of it all.

I watched the VIEW too & they did have some good points, but I agree with Elisabeth in that people know what they are signing up for when they get on this show. Myself, I enjoy watching people that are both good and bad. I think last night's show in Seattle was a little harsh on some of the people-- I think if the judges weren't so critical on the person's image it would be better.. I lost a lot of respect after watching last night... but, do hope they continue to show the people that arne't so good. Because.. it's life.

I'd like to see a 50-50 or 60-40 split of bad and good auditions. Too much of one or the other and it gets boring. Seems all we've seen so far is really bad and so I spend most of the show on myLot.

I think its just right if they will also allow us to see even the bad auditions. I enjoyed it, not because i mock them. actually, i feel for them. and bec of those bad auditions, it makes american idol more fun to watch. i hope those who were not accepted can be successful in other fields.

Honestly, I enjoy watching the bad auditions. It makes the show fun. I think the audition part will be boring if it we're just good auditions. It's nice to see the different people who audition for the show. I think it also attracts people to watch the show. And besides, when the Hollywood nigth starts, it's all good and serious singing. So why not enhoy the bad & funny auditions first.

I dont agree at all, have to have the bad ones just for the humor factor, once they get to the last 10 or so i dont even watch any more

I think that they put the bad auditions in the episodes to give people a comedy hour, at least that is how I look at it. I think that the good and the bad make the show. I like the good auditions and the bad. The bad make me laugh.

i think the big draw of all these programmes is that they allow us to glory in other peoples misfortunes. I watch them for the viscious put downs from the judges. I think these people should not go on tv if they dont want the condemnation of the judges

The bad auditions are the only part of American Idol (or, as I call it "American Idiots") I watch. I stop watching when the bad auditions are over.
That goes for a lot of people I know. So I have to disagree with Rosie. There would be a noticable change in ratings if they got rid of the bad auditions. They're the only entertaining about that show.

Huh - my husband and I thought about it totally differently.
We thought maybe they are doing this *purposely*.
COntestants have complained a lot about certain people getting unfair air time etc (for ex, Kelly Pickler and her family story) and then the tv audience voting people through because they feel sorrry for them, connected with them, and other contestants you did not get as much air time in the beginning shows didn't get the audience vote.
So we figured they were purposely not showing many good ones so we'd be surprised or freshly introduced to them all at voting time.
Just a thought.
