I love yarn and I can hardly walk past a display without stopping to look. I have a stash already, but how can anyone resist all those colors and textures?? I keep buying more with good intentions. Some I knit up, some I just add to my stash! Does anyone else do that?

I have a hard and fast rule that I do not buy yarn unless I'm going to be knitting it within the week. I have a major stash aversion I suppose you could say. I have been given some yarn and I did buy a couple of skeins of sock yarn that were on clearance that I haven't gotten to but that's only because when it comes to socks I'm a bit slower. My job is to knit so my personal knitting time is pretty limited. There are lots of projects I would like to do but just not enough hours in the day. I've really never understood getting more yarn than you can possibly use. Why not knit what you do have or gift it to someone who will use it rather than to pile it up?

Having more yarn than one could possibly use is what makes a yarn junkie. :)

Yes. My weakness is sock yarn. You can usually get enough for one pair for a reasonable amount of money and there are so many beautiful colors available! It's perfect for when you visit a yarn store on vacation and want to buy something small. I probably have enough for 50 pairs of socks. It makes my husband happy, though - he loves to pick some out and give it to me as an occasional surprise. You aren't alone!

I'm so glad to know that I'm not alone! :) I have a weakness for sock yarn, too, and have a pretty good stash of it. One good thing about keeping a lot of yarn on hand is that you don't have to go to the store when you want to knit something new.

You might not absolutely NEED to go to a yarn store, but that hasn't stopped me. :) It's also so easy to browse through yarn online and end up buying more than you mean to!

If you could see my closet, you'd know I don't stay out of the yarn stores, either! And online... well, apparently you know how it goes. :)

I am a yarn junkie, I love the colors, textures, and all the novelty yarns. I just bought twenty five skiens because they were on sale. I couldn't help myself. So I better get busy. crocheting and looming away.

Having the yarn on hand is part of the creative process to me. Much like a painters pallet, I paint with yarn and want to have as many shades and textures at my side as possible when I get inspired. You wouldn't expect a quilter to have just one yard of fabric on hand would you?

I love the way you said it. Wish I would have said it like that. :)

Like you, I love yarn and love the feel and look. I also do the same thing to fabric. I am just a sewing, knitting junkie in all ways.

You can never have too much yarn! I love feeling yarn and looking for the softest wool in particular. I mostly knit soakers for covering cloth diapers! There is no such thing as resisting when it comes to yarn.....!!!

Yes! Yes! Yes! I have finally found some knitters on here! I can't go into a craft supply or even Walmart without stopping to look at all of the new yarns coming out. They are wonderful! It's like Christmas when I find a sale! I'm 34. So everyone looks at me funny when I want to show them my latest find but they want everything that I make too. I've has several people ask me "Where did you buy that shawl, scarf, hat etc." And then the inevitable " Will you make me one?" I love the look and feel of the yarns. From Course to kitty fur soft. I bet your stash is as big as mine!

My stash is pretty big right now. My sister in law gave me two trash bags full when she decided to quit knitting (I'll never understand some people!). That still doesn't stop me from looking at and buying new yarn... there's never an end to it.

I love it when they ask if you can make them one! NOT!! I was making one of those Bed Doll costumes for Barbie from Annie's Attic when my daughter-in-law's sister asked me if I would make one for her. I've made 3 of those dresses and they each took a month to make (think of all that labor!) and only used about 3 or 4 balls of thread. She said that she'd buy the thread if I'd make one for her, like that would help! hehehe I was nice to her though and managed to be polite (but firm).

If I had the money, I would. I love to have yarn on hand to knit into projects when I think of it, and I love picking out yarn. Soemtimes it's nice just to look at or touch. Alas, we are broke, so I have to be very careful with my purchases. Right now, I am only knitting out of my stash, and I'm basically stuck with that until we get back on our feet.

I love yarn. It can be addictive. I keep finding yarn that I like. Soon enough I have a whole lotta yarn. It is so hard to resist a soft, colorful yarn. I guess I too am a yarn junkie.

I have just started knitting like a month ago I'm a newbie I might say. Whenever we go to the craft store I feel like I'm in heaven.. ahaha.. I just love papers and yarns and the like.. ahaha.. something about those colorful stuff that makes me so excited hahaha... Well.. If I can I would want to have my own storage room full of different kinds of yarns.. but practical thinking, I wouldn't be able to use all up and it'll just go to waste eventually.. So as much as I want to, I'll just buy 'em when I'm ready to start a new project.

You may very well wind up with a little more yarn than you "need," sooner or later. Then do you find something to make from it right away?

I'm with you peavey! I love yarn too! I have quite a bit of yarn on hand now. I'm making all kinds of projects; scarves with fun fur; granny squares for blankets; general craft ideas. You name it I'll at least try it. I have all sorts of colors and all types of yarn.

Oh yes...I think my yarn stash is my largest possession. To help keep it, and my budget under control I delcare "Stash Only" months. This mean I can only make projects with yarn in my stash. It forces me to be a little more creative sometimes but that's ok. I'll let myself buy again once all my yarn fits in only 1 or two containers, rather than 4 or 5!

I do the same thing. I buy yarn today and might use it later for a project. I do the same thing with fabric, adding and adding to my stash, because I know, I will never run out of projects.

i also love yarn and love to knit but i can resist walking by a yarn display without stopping to look and stare at it i also already have a stash of yarn and needles and knitting supplies it is hard for me to resist all the colors and textures though it is hard for me to walk into a store and walk past the yarn and stuff and not buy things especially if it is on clearance for a really good price i like to stock up on supplies when i can get them for a good price

I am so gulty of adding to my yarn stash without proper planning. I just fall for wool in charity shops or on ebay or accept it as barter from people, then work out what to do with it later,. I do have a rule never to pay full price for it though, so its a bit cheaper than it would be if I bought in normal shops, but it still eats up my pocket money
