You have to read the Independent. Sheeeeeesh, that's a bit of a cheek! lol.
Yes, reading online is easier. You don't have to brave the lousy weather, and you can choose what you read from a selection of newspapers and television news reports.
Thank you for your response.

I do buy buy newspaper every day. Malayala Manorama is the newspaper I buy everyday. I think even with the arrival of television and internet there are lots of people who still goes for newspapers. I am one of the person. I like reading the sports page first and then I go for the cartoons. I look for any main news before going to the sports page.

I think with a lot of people, it's a daily habit to buy newspapers. Some have them delivered still, and others go out and buy them. A lot of people like to read them whilst taking their breakfast, or just after. It's one of their morning rituals, don't you think?
Personally, I got a bit fed up with all the doom and gloom and negativity in the papers. It's not my style to dwell on the negativity in the world. I have a more positive approach, so perhaps a mag would be better morning reading matter for me.
Brightest Blessings my friend, and happy reading!

I don't buy newspaper daily. I subscribe a newspaper and it is delivered to my home daily, from monday till sunday. I like to read newspaper in the morning while having breakfast. It is just like having coffee in the morning. I always try to read all the news or at least browse all the pages so I can learn about something new everyday and to keep up with the trend. The newspaper that I subscribe to is the biggest newspaper company in my country.

I have not bought a newpaper in years. The television has so many news channels it's hard to avoid anything major that is happening in the local or international community. And the internet now has thier front page items as soon as we connect, so we are not short of news. I use the net for all my information, especially technology as the world is techno mad so I like to keep up with that. The news to me is the same old news that is the same day after, month after month, year after year, if you get my drift. No news is good news.

Hi Deeeky. Yes, I agree with your sentiments entirely. Our lives seem to be run by the media. That's partly why I avoid watching television and don't buy newspapers. There's too much doom and gloom and a vast amount of sensationalism. I don't often check online even, unless something looks interesting.
I guess I'm living in my own little dreamworld of days gone by, and enjoying a less-troubled life than the media wish me to have. lol. Still, that's the way I like it... Becks and Posh can do what they like, as far as I'm concerned. They do my head in! :-)
Thank you for your contribution Deeeky. Brightest Blessings... take care.

Yes I read the newpaper online and a hardcopy. Why do I still read them when I consider them to be way to "libera"? It is because they are that I read, I like to know what I am up against and how to refute what they are putting into peoples minds. It is utterly amazing how incorrect they are and often the facts are not facts. It always has to do with the almighty dollar.

Hi Darkwing, I used to read newspapers everyday, although that was when I was managing a papershop! I rarely bother nowadays and will probably buy a Sunday paper now and again. I think with more people using the internet nowadays people don't need newpapers any more, specially when they can get better quality news from the internet (or not as the case may be!)

Hi Bizzie. Yes, I think the news is well covered by television and the internet, and papers tend to follow some strange stories, but I was interested to know why people actually buy them, if they buy them. It seems a few like the puzzles, sports coverage and cartoons. I don't think younger people buy them often for any other reason. This is an interesting exercise, as local papers seem to be as, if not more popular than nationals, nowadays.

Yes, I buy a couple of newspapers every day, mainly for the sports section. I also buy Sunday papers and the weekly local one, as I am interested in what goes on in my town.
I think the sports coverage is very good in the newspapers and I take part in the fantasy football league competition, which is quite good fun.

Thank you Leeds! lol. What happened to them this Saturday then? Sheeesh... 1-0 up for ages, and along comes Huckaby! grrrrrrrr.
Thank you for your response about the newspapers. I always like to keep up with what's happening locally as well, but don't buy the dailies, or Sunday papers.

I am sorry to say that I don't get time to read the newspaper during the week, but I do savour the opportunity to read the local newspapers on Saturday and Sunday.
There is something relaxing about reading the newpaper compared with focussing on a computer screen, as I do everyday of the week.
I don't know what it is but when I can find half an hour for myself on the weekend, sitting on the couch with a newspaper is one of my favourite forms of relaxation.

Yes, that sounds like a relaxing pastime. I don't buy daily papers either. They seem so full of rubbish these days. My ideal relaxation time is with a good book. I like to curl up in front of my log fire and just chill, from time to time, and what better time than the weekend?
Thank you for your contribution FalconFan, and Brightest Blessings to you!

Reason enough to buy the newspaper. I don't buy them myself, nor do I watch news reports on the television very often, except in extreme cases. I think there's a lot of sensationalism in the news, competing for awards and the like.
But, you have good reason... Thank you for your response.

I don't always buy newspapers because you can read some news items on the net instead. It is however, important to occassionally buy newspapers. it's nice to read the opinion sections and get different viewpoints about a particular event or issue. Reading newspapers is also a great way to improve your wrting skills. You'll learn a lot about paragraph construction, wrting styles and many more. To be honest though, i really love the cartoon page aside from the opinion page. Cartoons give you a great way to just laugh about the frustrations of life.
