they just exemplify the real meaning of smart, from the original Middle English word smert, meaning to cause pain, they are real pain in the neck. Another shade of meaning is shrewed, clever, witty. They know how to manipulate things to their advantage because they have a certain level of intelligence. Being smart is a step away from being wise, a person who possesses wisdom.

Being inteligent doesnt mean to be always right - some inteligent people defend bad ideas because of few reasons :
1. They will gain something becasue of this bad idea
2. They cant see anything bad in it althoug it is obvious
3. This is their idea so they have to defend it
4. They are not inteligent xD

I think this happen due to their experiences in life. I think a bad experience can alter the way you feel about many things in a big way.
I know one bad thing that has happened to me has changed my perception of many things, including myself and not really in a good way.

that because everyone has their own idea, good or bad, sometime they are just too stubborn to change it, because they think they are so smart that they never wrong, but sometime the smart one are wrong, they should learn from their mistake before they can improve

I think people do sometimes because they don't want to think straight about what is at hand.

Smart people in order to keep them apart from the common persons usually take sides of wrong ideas , it is just to prove anything by logic, this sort of defending gives an exercise to their smart minds. They are defending for the sake of defending may not believe in bad ideas.

It depends on the situation. It could be just a matter of looking at it from a different view point. They might not see it as something that defies reasonable logic, they might think your stance does. It's hard to say for sure but I know I've been in arguements with people where they thought I was wrong and I thought they were wrong. It's just how life is at times I think.

Different point of view, but people know better what's good and what's bad.

Maybe you could point out in ways , other reasons to look at other things in a different light. This would maybe help the person to understand why the belief may be wrong or at least get them to consider other viewpoints?

I think it's because basically, we are all people and we make decisions based on emotion and personal needs as well as logic. It's not so hard to understand, I think.

i guess its a smart thing, we'll never understand. maybee its to see if they're smart enough to make a bad idea seem logical to everyone else. maybe lol
