Do you take your child to daycare if you have the day off?

My children aren't in daycare b/c I'm a SAHM but I know a lot of people who send their kids to daycare. A lot of times they still send their kids to daycare if they have the day off. It's a good time to get errands done and all that. Do you send your kids if you have time off? If so, do you pick them up early? What do you do with the "you" time?

I am a daycare provider and a stay at home mom but when I worked in an office I did this sometimes. I know people really frown on it but if you only have 20 minutes to get 6 errands done, you have to move quick. You can't move quick if you are breaking up fights and getting kids in and out of their carseats the whole time. I think there is a huge difference between someone utilizing a daycare so they can have some time to get organized, and someone who just dumps their kids off at a babysitter every chance they get. I have seen both kinds of parents! Many moms have not had a relaxing bath (you know, one without children beating on the door) for a long time. They are the ones who need to take their kids to daycare on their day off! They don't realize the amount of stress they are under until they are ready to blow their tops!

I am a single mother and i have always worked up until last year as i do not have sufficient child care as of right now! I do occasionally substitute teach at the school on occasion though! If i did have them in Day Care though i would probably keep them with me unless i had a tremendous amount of things to get done. I would most likely pick them up once i was done running my errands!!!

I'm a stay at home mum too. I know that when I was working I would spend as much free time as I could with my little girl. I would rather the housework was never done if it meant not having time with her.

Really I think it has more to do with what kind of daycare you're taking them to. My best friend does this on her days off and it's not because she wants the free time. The daycare they attend is a sort of pre-school type daycare. Since they started going I've noticed a lot of improvement in how well they obey, pay attention, and even how much they've learned already. In my opinion, if it were a daycare of this nature, I'd have no objection to it. It also helps the children with their social skills to be around other children on a regular basis.
